Well-argued pro-gay-marriage protest sign
I’ve seen this line of reasoning before…and it’s funny every time. But seriously…

LOL
These are my two favorites of all time, they still make me laugh:

Technically, if you support something, isn’t it a rally? You can’t really protest something you’re in favor of (grammatically speaking…) Just sayin’…
To add to Tom’s corrections: an argument, throughout the history of western philosophy, has consisted of, in one form or another, both premises (that is at least two), and a conclusion. The statement above does not follow from either other explicitly stated facts together with a line of reasoning, or an explicit line of reasoning (a priori alone), which are the standard contents of premises; therefore whether it’s a conclusion or premise is ambiguous. The sign, without both premises and a conclusion, cannot constitute a clear argument; therefore, it has not argued well in favor of gay marriage. I encourage you to revise the title of this thread. (I realize I’m approaching this with no sense of humor). :)
It’s an argument–parts of the syllogism are implied, but it’s still an argument. They could divide it into its parts (both inferred and expressed) like this:
Gays have the right to marriage partners.
Marriage partners make people miserable.
Gays have the right to be miserable.
But that would be really obnoxious and anal-retentive. And not make a good poster. It’s a frankly rotten argument, but it is an argument, and it wins the “ha-ha” part of the debate, which is almost all that matters.
anal-retentive it is not
it IS a protest, even if someone is protesting against a protestor.
and it IS a logical argument even when the logic is suggested rather than expressed, maybe MORE logical.
I appreciate the honesty.
And, the use of a Chris Rock joke
