    Actually the goalkeeper is not allowed to take the ball with his hands if his own player passes it to him. So technically this should have been a penalty shot.

      The penalty for a back-pass as an indirect free kick. This is no back-pass because Sagna doesn’t intentionally pass it to the keeper.

    I’m a high school soccer referee. The rule specifically states the ball must be intentionally played by a player off his foot directly back to his own goalkeeper. Ray is correct, this is not a violation of the passback rule.
