*WHY* is an ape that knows sign language in a public zoo?

As much as I dislike primates of any kind, I still feel bad for this ape. Poor guy, he looks so desperate!

    • Kim says:

You are a primate…you hate humans too?

      • Anna says:

Well, I know if I mention the “E” word, it will launch a debate, soooo I’ll just say, I believe the Genesis account as oppose to what is being taught in schools :)

        • Marci says:

Being a primate has nothing to do with evolution, it has to do with how our genes compare to other animals. You don’t’ have to believe that a tiger and lion evolved from the same animal to appreciate the overlap of their genetic makeup. Classification has nothing to do with what you believe, it’s fact.

          • James Finley says:

Actually it does. Taxonomy (classification) was originally about naming kinds, and identifying the animals by their kinds. Genesis says we reproduce by our kind. Just because we have common markers with apes doesn’t make us primates. And that said, tigers and lions likely did evolve from the same created kind (baramin). Creationism doesn’t discount evolution via natural selection. We just don’t try to look past the created kinds in the Garden and find one common ancestor.

          • Marci says:

I agree with you James, but that’s not what Anna was saying. I was only pointing out that classification deals with where we are NOW, and necessarily how we got here. Classifying humans as primates doesn’t automatically mean it’s because of evolution. That being said, I can appreciate someone who believes in creationism that doesn’t discount natural selection evolution. Too many cover there ears screaming “THIS IS HOW WE WERE MADE AND THIS IS HOW WE WILL ALWAYS BE”.

          • James Finley says:

Thank you, Marci. Many Christians are not taught how to respond to “science” that denies God. It is unfortunate. Some become staunch believers in Evolution (molecules-to-man), others become “silly” Christians that deny science.

Me, I seek wisdom in the Word and seek to better understand the beauty of Creation.

I don’t know any sign language and it was still *quite* obvious to me what he wanted.

  13. Lonesome D says:

Can you imagine how badly the chimp wants to rip that idiot’s face & genitals off? What a dope!
