Impala narrowly escapes the paws and jaws of an attacking lion
The dramatic encounter between a lioness and impala that is pictured in sequence below was captured by photographer Jayesh Mehta in Botswana. He says, unsurprisingly, that the attack and escape happened so fast he barely knew what he’d seen. He was only able to get these images because he was snapping 10 frames a second…

Unfortunately, as you can see in the last picture, the lioness is blind in one eye, which is probably why she missed what ought to have been an easy kill for her. Mehta says he later saw the lioness’s cubs and they appeared to not have eaten for days.
So much for feeling happy that the Impala got away…

“So much for feeling happy that the Impala got away…” – Yeah my feelings the same. I’m not one to humanise animals, but this one did it for me.
sorry ,i dont share your opinion….sorry that the mother and cubs go to bed hungry & starving. But lets take it from another perspective. a human family is starving and they abduct your son and/or daughter…take them to another location, and have them labor all day long ,so they can make ends meet. these people didnt ask her if she would mind sacrificing her existance on their behalf…because after all, it Was a question of the families survival ! This impala has a life and IT DOESNT INCLUDE BEING SLAUGHTERED MERCILESSLY as a GOOD MEAL! THATS NATURE? WELL MAYBE WHEN SOMEONE GUNS DOWN ONE OF OUR ‘LOVED ONES’Because they resisted giving up their money (so the poor guy can eat and have shelter)we had better be forgiving…because thats nature after all .Do i have a solution…no i dont…but the animal reserves might have interesting alternatives (or not !) -mark …oh! & happy new year!
Um…really? Comparing a lion’s basic needs to slavery? Do you really live in such a small world that you think most animals in the wild just go to restaurants and sit down and politely order vegetarian meals? This is nature. It’s wild, it’s gritty, it’s not humane. Inhumane. Meaning nothing comparable to human society.
“Do i have a solution…no i dont…but the animal reserves might have interesting alternatives (or not !)”
Solution? To what…nature?? You think we should just round up all the wild animals in the world and put them in a human controlled animal reserve??!! And feed them what?? GRASS?
FFS Let them be wild animals. You won’t get very far if you try to reason with a lion and tell her that “killing is wrong”.
But lets take it from another perspective. You and your two children are in the middle of Africa. You’re starving. An impala skips by. You:
A) Smile, and tell your children it’s a beautiful way to starve to death, watching wild animals hopping through the tall grasses.
B) Feed your children.
You just went full retard…
How long has he been following her? It would be interesting to know how she went blind? Birth defect (amazing she’s lived this long if so) or a separate hunt gone wrong? Hmm…
