Matthew McConaughey lost 30 lbs to play an AIDS victim, looks very gaunt
At least compared to the image he’s known for, Matthew McConaughey looks shockingly haggard and hollow-cheeked these days on the set of “The Wolf of Wall Street,” in which he plays the boss of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character….
His weight loss, however is not even for that movie. It’s for “The Dallas Buyer’s Club,” in which he stars as an AIDS patient who starts dealing in illegal pharmaceuticals in a last ditch effort to save his life and others’…
I wonder if Scorsese and the other filmmakers behind “The Wolf of Wall Street” knew what version of McConaughey they’d be getting when they cast him…

if you want to see REAL weight loss then look at The Machinist – straight after shooting this he went on to play Batman in Batman Begins, so he went from being ultra-gaunt to putting on 70-80lbs between films, and that weight was mostly muscle!
