Minnesota casino makes a 1-ton cheeseburger, feeds it to hungry onlookers

Last Sunday, at Black Bear Casino in Minnesota, Guinness World Records named a new world-record for biggest burger. The casino’s culinary creation was made of buns and a patty that had to be flipped with a crane and contained 60 pounds of bacon, 50 pounds of lettuce, 50 pounds of onions, 40 pounds of pickles and 40 pounds of cheese. In its entirety, the burger weighed in at 2,014 pounds.

Immediately after it was fully prepared and the representative from Guinness World Records had signed off on it, the burger was sliced and served to the hundreds of people who had watched it all come together…

You must be so proud of your state, Abraham!

    Aqua Teen did it first.

Wow that’s one nasty-ass looking hamburger. I wonder how many cows it took.

Why not feed it to some homeless/needy people instead of a bunch of overweight mid-Westerners and well-to-do college students?

Mickey: I don’t think the disparaging remarks about the hamburger nor the mid-Westerners was necessary, but I agree that they should have gathered needy people. The damn things weighs over 2000 lb, you could easily feed 2000+ people with that. I wonder how much went to waste.

If you watch the video again, click on the link at the beginning for a time-lapse video of the entire process. You will see that the entire burger was served up to the crowd, with possibly some people who didn’t get any because they were too late. So no, it didn’t go to waste. And while I support feeding the hungry (I personally volunteer with a non-profit group that prepares meals and then delivers them throughout the day on food trucks to the hungry and homeless, serve Thanksgiving and Christmas meals at the Salvation Army, etc.), not every event has to be about the needy. Sometimes it’s fun just to have a festival or event for anyone who cares to join in. Even Jesus ate meals with friends and attended/enjoyed weddings and other festive occasions, and let people rub oil on his head and feet without making it about about the poor and hungry. I’m guessing that you gather for food and fun times with your friends without going out and inviting hungry or homeless people to join you. Nothing wrong with that. (And overweight people deserve to eat and enjoy themselves too.) (And no, I’m not overweight.)
