The Cast of “The Princess Bride” — Then and Now [14 pictures]
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Princess Bride‘s release date, here are the main characters as they appeared in the movie and as they are now (with a classic quote from each thrown in just for fun)…
Cary Elwes as Westley
“As you wish.”

Robin Wright as Buttercup
“You can’t hurt me. Westley and I are joined by the bonds of love, and you cannot track that — not with a thousand bloodhounds. And you cannot break it — not with a thousand swords.”

Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya
“Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father! Prepare to die!”

Christopher Guest as Count Tyrone Rugen
“What did this do to you? Tell me. And remember, this is for posterity, so…be honest. How do you feel?”

Chris Sarandon as Prince Humperdinck
“Please consider me as an alternative to suicide.”

Billy Crystal as Miracle Max
“Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT – mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky, I love that.”

Carol Kane as Valerie
“The chocolate coating makes it go down easier. But you have to wait fifteen minutes for full potency. And you shouldn’t go in swimming after, for at least, what?”

Wallace Shawn as Vizzini
“Inconceivable!”

Mel Smith as The Albino
“The Pit of Despair! Don’t even think— [clears throat] —don’t even think about trying to escape.”

Margery Mason as The Ancient Booer
“Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo.”

Fred Savage as The Grandson
“Murdered by pirates is good.”

(And for three of the main cast, of course, we can’t have a “now” photo, because they’ve passed away…)
Andre the Giant (d. 1993) as Fezzik
“Anybody want a peanut?”

Peter Cook (d. 1995) as The Impressive Clergyman
“Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday.”

Peter Falk (d. 2011) as The Grandfather
“As you wish.”

Boy. Billy’s lookin’ better as he’s getting older.
I was thinking the same thing about Carol Kane…
Errr. Actually, a couple of the cast have passed away (Peter Falk, Andre the Giant…) Maybe “as they are today” isn’t the best way to put it? Unless this is an old post?
He posted the dates they died next to their names.
Christina, that’s why they have the line “(And for three of the main cast, of course, we can’t have a “now” photo, because they’ve passed away…)”
would you prefer a picture of a rotting corpse? seriously?
Y’all be nice. Maybe Christina’s a Zombie, who would love to see the errrrm, uh..never mind.
best movie EVER!!!
