So, it looks like it’s shearing off the carrot tops/greens and dropping them back on the field? I suppose that’s good, returning some organic matter to the soil . . . though running the heavy machinery over the field would compact the soil, which would be counterproductive for carrot production, which needs loose soil . . . but which they seem to have, since that machine can pluck up the carrots pretty easily . . . I know nothing about large-scale carrot farming, so I’m just thinking out loud . . . Anyone know more?
I never cease to be amazed by the ingenuity of humans.

The tractor and harvester are not driving over the row before pulling and the field will be plowed and disked before planting to loosen the soil.
Why is there such a large crowd of people following the machinery?
This was most likely a demonstration of the tractor/attachment’s ability. Those guys were probably prospective buyers. That’s my guess, at least.
A bunny’s paradise.
I am amazed at the uniformity of the size of the carrots – and also at how the machine pulls up every single carrot.
