This is true for more than just the apple genius bar. Whenever there is something tricky to be done, i’ll let my wife do the talking. And she’s the one that has troubles learning the language.
Not that i’m not good with words, but people don’t tend to give women bad news as easily. Imho it’s not immediately relate to appearances, it works on the phone too. This has worked miracles in the past (Out of my perspective. Some women seem to be used to it.)

Quit being such a lemming, drop the iPhone out of your car window on a freeway, and buy an Android.

*sigh* This doesn’t work for plump, middle-aged women with three little kids hanging from her ankles.
Yep, you’re on to something here. I’m not an Apple freak, but I do the same when I go into electronics stores & ask for help with finding stuff.
