Noah’s Ark (sans whimsy)

OK, not completely sans whimsy, but you get the point.

If only this was what they put inside church nurseries.
Well, that just bums me the heck out.
well good thing it never happened! now you don’t have to be bummed!
And the piddly Colorado River managed to carve the humungous Grand Staircase?

Uh, yes? ICR are idiots. Didn’t you know that?
John,
Your logic and arugmentation is flawless, you must be right!
Well, I guess you settled that.
At last a NEARLY accurate depiction! Why are there no floating people?
Or logs.
Really, am I the only one who wants an accurate depiction of all the stuff in the OT, especially the battles?
nope, I so do.
I have always wondered why it’s one the the number one choices for baby shower motifs and church nursery decor…
The shower because, well, it is technically a ‘shower’.
Nurseries because, animals. Also, giraffes are cool.

The OT was never meant to be a cutesy story to begin with.
That’s the problem with people who make these, they always go the whimsical route instead of showing what the original source material said.
The original ark was freakin’ massive, as seen here: http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/am/v2/n2/noahs-ship
There weren’t any cutesy windows to side like the one shown above.
*Gasp* Answers in Genesis! I love them! They are awesome.
Anyone here know of the comedian Tim Hawkins? He does a little bit on how the Bible isn’t exatly “Family Frindly” and how a lot of stories shouldn’t end up in The Precious Moments Bible. Here’s a link if anyone would like to watch it: http://youtu.be/YVxRddVYYig
I <3 Tim Hawkins! :)
Actually Anna, the fact that it isn’t family friendly speaks to the fact that it is history. I wouldn’t have history presented to children as it’s presented to adults either so it’s really a mute and legless argument to say that it’s not family friendly. That’s because it comes from reality. If it were written just for young children, it would have been.
Love AIG. Also, the whimsical route always shows two of each, which the bible clearly states that of clean animals, there were 14 of each, and of bird there were 14 of each. I feel cheated every time I see a paired off depiction of Noah’s ark. Of course, this one shows only the unclean animals and the birds, but whatever.
I SO appreciate this because I always think it’s insane that people decorate nurseries and stuff with Noah’s ark themes… aside from Noah being righteous, it’s actually a horrific story of destruction, death, and punishment, with almost nothing to do with animals. Why don’t people think?
