It’s the only drumming word I know and I haven’t had a chance to use it since I learned it playing Balderdash in 7th grade…so cut me some slack. :)

Why is the drummer picked out as someone you would not expect to play the drums? Why not pick out all the oldies playing the other instruments and say how you would not expect them to be able to play their instruments with any skill? Why should a woman above a certain age be assumed to never have been young and cool? It i like only men and young women count.
I think that’s the point of posting the video. The stereotype you mention isn’t being promoted, but debunked here.
I disagree, making a big deal about this drummer being able to play a song shows how nobody expects women above a certain age to have skills like this, which is totally sexist.
You are correct, the attitude or belief that an “older” woman wouldn’t have the skill and desire to play the drums like that is sexist and age-ist. That is the whole point of posting this video, to show that there ARE “older” women who can and do. It’s challenging many people’s preconceptions.
Do we really have to be so PC and bend over backwards to erase all distinctions between genders and people groups? Am I supposed to be ticked off that Asians are over-represented as first-chair violinists? I couldn’t care less. Is it a crime that for whatever reason men gravitate toward drums more than women and so a talented woman stands out? Good grief. Just enjoy it and get off your high horse looking for a sexist under every bush.
Remind me not to wear shorts while performing.
