Inmates write very kind notes to departing prison guard [2 pictures]
A corrections officer at a maximum security prison by the name of Sortino posted these two notes that he got from inmates when they heard he was being transferred. As he says, “If you talk to them as a person, with respect, with dignity…it can go a long ways.”…

This is beautiful. Wow. Just what I needed this morning; thank you.
I’ve just gotten involved in doing “prison ministry.” The warden at the local state prison is highly respected by the inmates and the guards (c.o.’s). It’s amazing to hear these men talk about the difference that wardens and c.o.’s can make, as they compare the different yards they’ve been in.
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]?
24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
Number 19 is what really hit me. All too often the people that portray themselves as “Christian” seem to forget these verses. Oh they know that faith without works is useless, that’s why they send their kids on mission trips all over the world. But they forget that works include the way that they treat people right here at home. All the hateful things they say to gay people, homeless people, people of a different political party. Those are deeds also, and god sees how ALL of his children are treated.
