I’ve been reading Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas (http://www.amazon.com/Bonhoeffer-Pastor-Martyr-Prophet-Spy/dp/1595552464). It’s very interesting the way basically the whole world was deceived by Hitler and the Nazis until it was almost too late (indeed WAS too late for many).
Swing and a miss by the Grey Lady.
Please note that it was not the NY Times who judged that Hitler was no longer to be feared. This was the judgment of Grman “authorities.”. The NYT was simply reporting their judgment.
