Bus driver teaches rude drivers a lesson by purposefully running into them
Russian bus driver Alexei Volkov has been recording his routes in the city of Zelenograd since 2007 to protect himself from insurance scammers who pull in front of his vehicle and then brake suddenly to make a rear-end collision seem like his fault.
Over time, he got fed up enough with these swindlers (and with rude drivers in general) that he started simply running into people who drive like idiots. His excuse is that it would be more dangerous for his passengers if he swerved or braked suddenly to avoid an accident.
Apparently, his employers agree. He remains behind the wheel despite admitting to over a hundred accidents. And, because he shares his dashcam footage online, he has become a bit of a vigilante hero around town, known a touch dramatically as “The Punisher.”
Here’s a compilation of his method of discipline…

YESSS!!!!!
My new crush…no pun intended!
I often wish I drove a large vehicle that I didn’t care about so I could do EXACTLY this.
What an idiot. Drives like a turtle and then when someone goes around him, he slams into their tail. He should have his license taken.
LG apparently misses the fact that those ‘going around him’ cut him off and slam on their brakes for no reason. They are pulling the standard insurance scam that has gotten so popular that most drivers in Russia have put in video cameras to avoid the shakedown for “following to close and causing an accident”. Those drivers MEAN to get hit and are looking to cash in… they just don’t mean to actually take serious damage. People die because of this scam.
” for no reason.” maybe, maybe not. The insurance scam is a big possiblity. But we’re not seeing the whole reel either.
At the end of the day, I do really hate it when people slam their brakes on in front of me. I just have never met anyone who does it for an insurance scam. It’s usually someone who has been cut off just moments earlier — and they’re “trying to teach a lesson”.
Seems like too many people trying to teach driving lessons and not enough actually following them.. oh well. I’ll shut up now. :)
I’ve heard of this scam in the US, only somebody tailgates you so you’re forced to tailgate the driver in front of you and then he hits his brakes, making you at fault. (Lesson: don’t tailgate. No matter how late you slept in or how impatient you are to get home.)
But I don’t get this guy’s point. He’s giving them what they want.
Nope. The scammers want the person they cut off to be legally at fault, so that they get a free insurance payout.
Since he’s filming it, he can prove that the scammers are at fault, so the scammers have to pay up.
sorry, but how can someone tailgating you FORCE you to tailgate someone else?
if someone tailgates me I randomly tap on the brakes, meaning that I get sudden bursts of deceleration or just my brake lights coming on, it makes them drop back fairly sharpish as the insurance claim would put THEM in the wrong, not you
for this video, he isn’t “giving them what they want” as it’s recorded, and it clearly shows them swerving in front of him and then braking, apart from one incident where he had several seconds before he hit them
the best one is the van though, where he spun it around :-D
Okay. I watched it again. A couple of those vehicles actually were being jerks, slamming on their brakes when they pulled in front of him. So, maybe it is better to just let ‘em have it. I just can’t help wondering why someone would speed around a bus and then as soon as they get in front slam on their brakes? If that sort of thing happens to this driver all the time, maybe something else is going on that we’re not seeing in this video? Oh well. Thanks for sharing the vid.
They speed around a bus and slam on their brakes for insurance fraud. A company is less likely to fight a claim than an individual. That sort of thing happens ALL the time which is exactly WHY so many Russian drivers have dash cams.
Whatever the case, this guy is awesome!
LG, you still don’t get it do you? If you haven’t already, read the intro to the video. Carefully.
‘Russian bus driver Alexei Volkov has been recording his routes in the city of Zelenograd since 2007 to protect himself from insurance scammers who pull in front of his vehicle and then brake suddenly to make a rear-end collision seem like his fault.’
Get it? These guys are not behaving the way they do merely because they are jerks. They are behaving this way because they are criminals who are trying to scam the bus company for whom Volkov works. Normally, the driver who drives into the back of the vehicle in front is deemed to be at fault unless they can prove otherwise.
Well, that’s why Volkov has a dashboard camera – so that he can prove otherwise. Understand yet?
Finally a waaaaay better version of Die Hard 5! Thank you, 22words!
Abraham,
Is there any way we can all chip in for a stand off between Russian bus driver “Punisher” and stone-cold awesome “I hate tailgaters” guy (http://twentytwowords.com/?s=tail+gating&go=GO) ???
Or, would our space-time continuum collapse because of too much awesomeness in one place? (It still might be worth it….)
The only reason that makes this bus driver a “hero” is that he installed a camera in his bus… So that he can proof that others are braking just in front of him…
Presumably this is a compilation of his greatest hits.
Jackpot! Helen wins!
Wow, that last one in the snow was SERIOUSLY a swindler! If you notice NO ONE in the lane was breaking. He jerks into the bus’s lane, slams on his breaks and WAITS for the hit! Geez, glad it’s all recorded and the guy is protected!
Link is broken…
