While downtown Detroit is reportedly making a modest but steady comeback from the city’s notorious decline over the last few years, many residential areas are still in utter disarray. Driving through some neighborhoods, it looks as if no one has lived there for decades. But in fact the desolation occurred astonishingly fast, sometimes in as little as two years.
Alex Alsup, a committed Detroit citizen, poignantly shows the literal and figurative disintegration of his town by comparing Bing and Google Street View images of the same homes over the course of several years.
