decade ago, Kevin Walsh was just a 13-year-old boy at summer camp.
A few years later, an out-of-the-blue phone call saved his life.
But that was only the beginning.
It all started at summer camp...
A decade ago, Kevin Walsh was a pretty typical 13-year-old boy. He happened to be spending some of his summer at camp, but he had no way of knowing that one of the other campers would save his life, and then change it forever.
One day at camp, another camper came up to him and gave him an out-of-the-blue compliment.
Kevin refers to her as “the prettiest girl [he’d] ever seen.” She walked up to him and told him, “black is a good color on you.”
That girl was named Blake, and what started out as an innocuous, throwaway comment ended up sparking a long-term friendship.
Although they went their separate ways after camp, Blake had made a lasting impression on Kevin.
According to Kevin, “not a day went by that [he] didn’t think about [Blake].” They exchanged AIM screen names and kept in touch by chatting online for a little while.
Unfortunately, Kevin was facing some struggles in his personal life.
During his senior year of high school, Kevin fell into a deep depression.
In his Quora post, he says, “I went through some dumb high school stuff that seemed earth-shattering at the time.”
He decided to take his own life.
Kevin made all the necessary arrangements for ending his life.
He says, “[I] wrote a note and went to where I planned to end things.”
But in the final moments before he went through with committing suicide, something miraculous happened.
