he world watched her courageously battle stage 2 nodular sclerosis Hodgkin lymphoma at 17.
Now, a year later, Andrea Sierra Salazar is back to share some big news.
This is Andrea.
Last year, at the age of 17, the high school student was hit with some tragic news that would change her life.
She was diagnosed with a kind of cancer called stage 2 nodular sclerosis Hodgkin lymphoma, and immediately began to undergo treatment.
“There were no side effects,” she told BuzzFeed. “I wouldn’t have known until one day I felt like I slept wrong, and my neck hurt. I patted my neck and I felt a really big ball.”
However, the news and the arduous treatment didn't kill her spirit one bit. She had big dreams of becoming a model, and she wasn't going to let cancer stand in her way.
So with the help of photographer Gerardo Garmendia, she sat for a gorgeous photo shoot that quickly went viral.
Despite having no hair, Salazar certainly looked the part of a princess in these pictures.
When the shoot went viral, Salazar gained not only fans, but immeasurable support.
As we've seen before, the effects of losing one's hair can be a devastating change for those battling the disease.
Salazar continued to live her life, but the pall of cancer can cast a long shadow.
