icasso is the cutest dog ever, and for me to say that is something because I own a really cute dog.
The fact that someone would let this pup waste away in a shelter is a real tragedy. But now, thanks to Luvable Dog Rescue, Picasso and his brother, Pablo, actually have a chance at life.
Meet the cutest dog brothers out there, Pablo and Picasso.
In case you can’t tell, Picasso’s the one with the twisted face. As far as anyone knows, he was born this way. And aside from some dental issues, the sweet boy is perfectly healthy.
Pablo and Picasso were born to a backyard breeder. All the puppies in their litter — including Pablo — were sold to different families, but no one wanted poor Picasso.
Who couldn’t love that face?!
But no one adopted him, so he was surrendered to the Porterville Animal Shelter in California, where he was very quickly put on the euthanasia list. Eventually, Pablo was also brought to that shelter and put on the euthanasia list when his family decided they didn’t want him anymore.
Then, Liesl Wilhardt, executive director of Luvable Dog Rescue in Oregon, came to the rescue.
“I was talking to volunteer Shannon Corbit about the dogs we were receiving and just happened to ask her out of the blue if she had any unusual-looking or special needs dog,” Wilhardt told The Dodo. “She responded, ‘Well, as a matter of fact, I do!’ and she sent me Picasso’s shelter intake photo.
“He was curled in a dog bed and looked very sad. His twisted face was startling, but he had soft and gentle eyes, and for me it was love at first sight!”
The second Wilhardt heard that Picasso was on the euthanasia list, she agreed to take him in.
Later, she learned that Picasso’s brother was also on the euthanasia list at the same shelter, so she checked with the manager at Luvable Dog Rescue to make sure they had room for both of them.
Pablo and Picasso's lives were saved.
And thank goodness they were! When they arrived at Luvable Dog Rescue, no one could understand how anyone wouldn’t want these sweet pups. They’re gentle, happy, and full of love for every person they meet.
