A new family of container ships are currently being built that will be the largest ever. They are called “Triple E’s” and are 2 meters short of a quarter mile long.

Many aspects of these behemoths would be incredible to consider, but let’s just take a look for a moment at a piece of the chain that will be used to anchor these ships…

If you pretend that this is a close-up picture of a normal-sized chain, that dockworker we see would be about the size of a little green army man. In real life, of course, that’s a normal sized man and he just happens to be climbing over links of chain that weigh more than 500 pounds each.
