Backpacker Bill Passman asked a fellow traveler about the tattoo she had on her back in 2010. It was the outline of the world and she told him she was placing dots across it to commemorate places she’d been. Passman was inspired.
He decided to get a similar tattoo, making sure his world map had the countries outlined as well as the continents.
Then he began filling the map in as he travelled…
After a trip that took him through Africa (with a stop in Canada, apparently) he was able to make a lot of progress filling in his tattoo…
And then in 2013, he made it to Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Finland and…Russia. As he put it — “OUCH.”
Ouch, indeed. It’s a good thing for Mr. Passman that Google is wrong about how many countries there are.
