Elvis Costello says don’t buy his box set, buy Louis Armstrong’s instead

Elvis Costello took to his blog a couple weeks ago to let fans know that they shouldn’t buy his new box set, because at over $200 “the price appears to be either a misprint or a satire,” and because (according to Costello) there’s better music out there anyway.

He writes regarding the overblown price tag…

All our attempts to have this number revised have been fruitless so we are taking the following unusual step.

If you want to buy something special for your loved one at this time of seasonal giving, we suggest, “Ambassador Of Jazz” – a cute little imitation suitcase containing ten re-mastered albums by one of the most beautiful and loving revolutionaries who ever lived – Louis Armstrong….

Frankly the music is vastly superior.

I have noticed that companies raise prices during holidays.. Go to Amazon and search for a 700 piece LEGO box then wait for christmas and see the price go from $50 to $99!! It was crazy…

He is just an artist and probably has no say in how much they charge..
