Machiavelli never said this. What he actually said is, “One must consider the final result,” which isn’t as eloquent but still just kind of common sense.
Although it is most often attributed to Nelson Mandela, who was most certainly not inadequate, it was actually a passage from self-help guru Marianne Williamson’s 1992 tome.
