Huge, intricate, geometric designs made by walking in the snow

Feb 28, 2012 By Abraham

These amazing displays are the result of Simon Beck wearing his snow shoes and walking around.

He says of his work

The main reason for making them was because I can no longer run properly due to problems with my feet, so plodding about on level snow is the least painful way of getting exercise. Gradually the reason has become photographing them, and I am considering buying a better camera.

You can see along the top of this last image that he tried to promote his Facebook page, but the shadows conspired against him. So we’ll just link it, instead: Visit Simon Beck’s page for more photos and info about his work.

  1. Bob says:

Simon Beck is clearly a liar. These designs were definitely not made by something as simple as a man walking in snowshoes, but were obviously made by beings from another planet that couldn’t find any available crops to draw these circles into.

  2. Jen says:

What’s hard for me to understand is how he manages to “conceptualize” these without having a bird’s eye view of what he’s creating. I know me…I’m make a misstep, sit down and try to brush it over/camouflage my mistake. These are fabulous.

  3. Margo Howland says:

Gorgeous! Winter crop circles! Would make a great pattern for a sweater or some other knitted item, like a scarf…
