   I saw this last week! Jack White was FABulous in all the episodes! Sometimes he looked annoyed, but I think he was really having fun.

   It makes me sad to think that some people think that wearing something that shows your devotion saves you from the wrath of God. It completely diminishes the sufficiency of Christ.

   After hearing that if you wear a scapular from the video I did some research and found that what they said isn’t entirely true, but still removes the sufficiency of Christ’s death on the cross (kind of like how purgatory intrinsically does).

   Of all the types recognized by the Church the best-known, and perhaps the most popular, is the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, sometimes referred to as the Brown Scapular from the color of its bands. The brown scapular is associated with the Sabbatine Privilege, which promises that the Virgin Mary will deliver from Purgatory those who wear the scapular piously on the first Saturday after their death.    Funnily, I knew almost every answer and I’m born and bred Protestant. For example I knew “monstrance,” but didn’t know the (extra-scriptural) name of Mary’s mother.

   Can I be that far from embracing the true church?

   The only answer I knew was the “Who is Mary’s mother”. I guess that happens when you’re not actually Catholic but you love history.

      But Colbert got that one wrong. St. Elizabeth is John the Baptist’s mother and St. Mary’s cousin (which he did say when correcting himself). But he didn’t mention St. Mary’s actual mother’s name when admitting that he mis-identified St. Elizabeth. St. Mary’s mother is St. Anna.
