Man famous for dancing with raccoon is running for governor of Tennessee

You probably saw the video last summer of Mark “Coonrippy” Brown dancing to Aretha Franklin with a raccoon on his porch. Not long after that, the authorities came and removed his pet raccoon because he didn’t have the proper permit. His requests to obtain one were ignored.

Of course, the internet took his side and soon he had a petition with 60,000 signatures asking that his raccoon be returned to him. But the governor, too, spurned his appeals. Brown observed, “Governor Haslam ignored the cries from the entire United States.”

So what’s he going to do now? Putting democracy and his right as a citizen of the great state of Tennessee to use, Brown has entered the race for governor. In his first speech he lays out his platform…

We are one nation under God, not above God. And just like the purity of this apple—

Actually, I’ll let him finish that thought himself…

“This is all about the raccoon,” he explains. And it makes sense. The governorship is no place for raccoon thieves.
