The banks of Lake Superior in Duluth yesterday were strewn with swimsuited beachgoers even though there was still ice in the water — tons of it, actually.
An especially harsh winter froze enough of the lake that 3% of it is still covered, with some estimates predicting it won’t be completely melted until July. In the meantime, Duluth experienced their first 80-degree days since last September.
Were multitudinous mini-glaciers and 37-degree water going to keep these Minnesotans away from the beach during this heatwave? Heck no…
