Mom turns toddler’s ink sketches into fantastic watercolor paintings

By Joey

Artist Ruth Oosterman spends hours drawing with her 2-year-old daughter Eve, who uses a black ink pen to create her imaginative works of art…

When going through Eve’s sketches one day, Ruth realized the drawings could create a foundation for watercolor paintings that Ruth would never have dreamed of on her own. She tells Bored Panda,

I try to work quickly and let imagination and play take root into the painting rather than taking it too seriously, this way I can encourage Eve’s contribution without making it too “grownup.”

These are a few of their collaborations so far…

The Red Boat

A Bookworm’s Dream

The Lady and the Fox

The Great Owl

The Elephant King

Be sure to follow Ruth on Twitter, Facebook, or her blog for more of these awesome paintings.

And in case you need a demonstration for collaborations with your own child, here’s a timelapse showing the making of one of the paintings above, “The Lady and the Fox”…
