osing is embarrassing. Whether it's a game of Monopoly or an entire presidential election, it's tough to face your loss with grace.
For Donald Trump, losing isn't just embarrassing; it's apparently unacceptable. When his candidate of choice lost the bid for Alabama Senate, he didn't simply congratulate the winner and move on with his life. He chose to pretend that he'd never supported a loser in the first place.
Unfortunately for him, the Internet's memory is long and comprehensive, and we've got receipts.
Donald Trump has a history of flip-flopping on plenty of issues.
For instance, back in 2012, he posted the above tweet claiming that Electoral College is a disaster for democracy.
Of course, that was before he was running for president…
On November 15, 2016 — right after he was elected president, Trump seemed to have changed his tune on the Electoral College.
Remember that thing he said was a disaster?
Well, now it’s genius. And we’re sure it’s just a coincidence that it happened to get him elected after he lost the popular vote.
Trump has also said not to believe the media when it shares things from anonymous sources.
And honestly, that’s not a terrible way to approach things. Unless someone is naming their sources, you can’t be sure that those sources actually exist.
However, Trump himself started the whole birther movement in 2012 after hearing from an unnamed yet "extremely credible source."
It’s great that he put the words “extremely credible source” in quotation marks — you can almost hear the air quotes.
Trump has continued his pattern of flip-flopping when it seems to be most convenient for him, but last night, he took things a step further.
Yesterday, Alabama elected a new senator to fill Jeff Sessions’ seat. Trump endorsed and even campaigned for Republican Luther Strange. (In fact, it was during a stump speech for Strange that Trump made his “son of a bitch” comment about the NFL.)
There was just one problem, though.
Even with Trump’s endorsement, Strange lost the bid for the Senate seat.
This put Trump in a bit of an awkward situation. And the way he chose to deal with it was pretty questionable…
