Of course, that won’t stop Twitter from having some fun…
People can’t resist pointing out the closeness of the two engagements — Meghan and Harry’s was announced in late November.
Keep reading to see Eugenie’s new ring (spoiler alert: we’ve got bling envy!).
What about the ring?
Check out that rock! Jack has proven he’s got great taste. As The Telegraph points out, it’s similar to Eugenie’s mother’s ring, featuring an oval-cut padparadscha sapphire surrounded by a halo of diamonds. The pair designed the ring together, once Jack had picked out the sapphire centerpiece himself.
Speaking of which, Eugenie’s mom, the Duchess of York, is totally on board with their engagement too.
She’s posted a flurry of loving tweets for the happy couple. Prince Andrew, Eugenie’s father, is also pleased with his daughter’s new fiancé.
The proposal was nothing short of magical.
Jack popped the question in Nicaragua, in front of a volcano at sunset (swoon!). As a lower-profile couple than Harry and Meghan, the Telegraph reports that their wedding will not be televised, and the celebrations will be paid for privately.
It’s not the first time the Royal Family has had two weddings in rapid succession—in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in April, followed by Zara Phillips’ and Mike Tindall’s wedding three months later.
