Jun 19, 2014 By Joey

We know that many of today’s movies are filled with visual effects, but it’s rare that we get a behind-the-scenes look at where the acting and makeup ends and technology takes over. Here are just a few comparisons between what the cameras filmed and what you saw in the theater…

  1. Tindy says:

These are technically amazing, but there are just so many that could have been done, probably cheaper, by using practical effects. Why do you need a green screen to make a lake?? Or a robotic costume?? It just seems silly to me.

  2. elle says:

Hats off to the actors to be able to imagine some of these scenes. I think that fake tiger would just make me laugh!

  3. nova says:

I can’t be the only one that finds amazing CG to be the only redeeming factor for a lot of this trash…

  4. John Feller says:

Although I still believe that the minds ability to conjuur up images from reading the written word will never be beater, I have to admit CGI is rapidly making me doubt this.

  5. T.Halle says:

The people who worked on the CGI parts in “Life of Pi” lost their jobs when the company couldn’t make enough money to keep up and running – this before the movie won an Oscar for Best Movie . . . The work takes a lot of time to do, by skilled artists, who only do that, but there’s no money coming to them overall when the entire budget is considered.
