If you've ever wanted to build a drone but thought it sounded way too complicated, you're in for a treat thanks to Flybrix, a company that let's you easily build any drone you can dream up using LEGO bricks.
While they’re not officially affiliated with LEGO, they are completely compatible with the world’s most popular building toy.
That means that in addition to the small collection of LEGO parts that ships with each kit, you can completely customize your craft using the LEGO you already have at home.
You can even increase the number of motors, from four, to six, to eight, to increase your custom drone’s lift capabilities.
"The brain under the hood is a complete computer system that you can learn to program using the Arduino development environment," they wrote.
Adding that Flybrix is open-source — they publish their source code and electronic designs so you can go as deep into the details as you want.
The Flybrix kits are available at an introductory price of $149 for a basic kit, and $189 for a deluxe.
Each comes with propellers and motors, custom boom-arm bricks allowing them to be attached to your own creations, a pre-programmed Arduino-compatible flight control circuit board, and all the cables you’ll need to wire things up.
