Dr. Jill Biden's evening outfit attracted a lot of attention as it apparently had a very special meaning behind it!

Read on to find out what it is...

Now, the run-up to Biden's inauguration has been a tense one, to say the least.

Since his election victory on November 7th, our country has experienced political tensions like never before.

Most people argue that Biden's win was a fair one...

After 4 long days of vote counting - and plenty of recounting - the Democrat was projected as the forty-sixth President of the United States.

However, people on the other side of the political spectrum have been arguing otherwise.

Trump instantly attacked Biden's win with several unproven accusations of electoral fraud - and, of course, his loyal supporters added fuel to the flames with gusto.

Trump had been doing everything in his power to fight the election result...

But 2 weeks ago on January 6th, enraged pro-Trumpers took matters into their own hands.

After repeated instructions by Trump to "fight for the White House," hundreds of his supporters stormed the U.S Capitol...

During which a joint session of Congress had convened to formally count the Electoral College votes and certify Joe Biden's election win.

Things quickly became violent...

And the world watched on, horrified, as the building was overtaken and vandalized by the rioters.

It was clear to see that the police were completely overwhelmed and disgracefully underprepared.

Which made many worry about the safety of Biden's inauguration yesterday.

Thankfully, security was tighter than ever before.

As we all know, Trump didn't attend the inauguration.

He confirmed his absence in a tweet earlier this month before being banned from Twitter.

Nevertheless, regardless of Trump's absence, the inauguration went ahead smoothly...

Getty

And the entire world watched on as Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, made their way through the sacred ceremony.

And now, Joe Biden is officially the president of the United States...

Alongside our new vice president, Kamala Harris.

And of course...

How can we not mention Lady Gaga's stunning performance of the national anthem?!

But yesterday, all eyes were on the first lady's outfits...

Getty

As she found a way to signal hopes for a unified America.

Without many people noticing, she represented all of the country's states and territories in her choice of looks throughout the day.

First off, she stepped out at the Capitol wearing a stunning matching coat and dress set made in an ocean blue, wool tweed with a matching silk Markarian face mask.

The coat came with a dark blue velvet collar and cuffs and was worn over a tapered dress that had a chiffon bodice and scalloped skirt...

The neckline of the dress was actually hand embellished with Swarovski pearls and crystals in a delicate floral pattern.

Of course, people took to social media to gush over her outfit...

And it was clearly so fitting for such a special day.

But it seems her outfits actually signify something very special.

Crafted by a small team in the heart of New York City's Garment Centre and hand-finished by the designer Alexandra O'Neill in her West Village studio, the color blue signifies "trust, confidence, and stability," according to a press release.

Not only that but the dress she wore for inauguration night also has a very special hidden meaning...

The embroidery along the arms of her white dress reflected the federal flowers from every state and territory of the US, according to the designer.

She completed the look with leather gloves also designed by Hearst.

Simply amazing!

We couldn't have asked for a better start to Joe Biden's presidency.
