When you invite children to a birthday party, it’s always a risk as to whether anyone will turn up! And when one mom recently invited twenty-two kids to her son’s 6th birthday, she expected at least one to join.
But when no one arrived for the celebrations, she took to TikTok to show how upsetting it truly was.
The mom, named Dawn, was left utterly heartbroken after no children turned up to her son’s 6th birthday party, despite twenty-two kids being invited.
Dawn, who lives in Sask, Canada, took to TikTok to show the devastating clips of her son playing alone in the park after no one arrived for the celebrations.
The video has now amassed over 2.5 million views.
Dawn, who goes by @dawners86, explained how COVID restrictions had been lifted in her area, meaning guests were allowed to attend the park-based birthday celebration.
“So we’re sitting at the park for JJ’s birthday party, we got everything ready, his party started half an hour ago. He had literally zero people show up for his birthday. My poor little man.”
The table was set with a buffet of cupcakes and birthday decorations.
She continued, “Out of twenty-two invites… no one came… I know it’s a pandemic, but it is a park and we have reopened in my province.”
“Sorry the video is shaky, I am so upset for this poor guy. He deserves better. He’s amazing.”
Alongside the video, Dawn used the hashtags #heartbroken and #sosad.
Since its posting, the video has gone crazy on the video-sharing site, with nearly 500,000 likes and 19,000 comments from viewers who shared her upset.
“My mama heart just broke. I have questions, what is he into right now? Where can I send him gifts??? I am dead serious,” one person commented.
“This is why we ALWAYS show. No matter what, my girl is there with a gift and a smile,” another said.
“You invited the wrong people then. It’s unfortunate how mean people can be.”
Many commenters offered to send presents to JJ alongside sending birthday wishes.
In a follow-up video, the upset mom said, “All the comments, and offers to buy JJ presents, they are greatly appreciated, But JJ doesn’t need any toys, he has asked very politely if you guys would send any gifts to the children hospital closest to you.”
“He has toys. He just wanted to spend time with friends.”
Dawn then explained that after phoning up some old friends she had from daycare and some family, 6 children managed to attend the last-minute invitation to the park and JJ ended up having a wonderful celebration, thankfully!
