There’s a reason they call it working out … because it’s work. Have you ever seen anyone running who looked like they were enjoying themselves? No, no, you have not. Regardless, I know all about the health benefits — blah, blah, blah — of hitting the gym or doing lunges at the park (while simultaneously engaging in self-loathing and wishing you had a milkshake from Chick-Fil-A). But, hey, listen. Working out doesn’t have to be all bad. Or, maybe you’re a real sicko and enjoy working out. Whatever pumps your iron. I’m just here to tell you that you can at least look cute doing it. I’m talking matching shorts and tanks, running shorts with pockets, pants perfect for yoga and even sports bras that are — dare I say? — adorable. I can’t help you with crunches or box jumps or even motivation to get you out the door and to the gym, but this. This, I can do. Flex that credit card and get ready to add these workout finds to your closet.

A Sports Bra With Real Support
Sports bras are a dime a dozen, I know. And, a lot of them claim to be supportive of the, ahem, girls, but really aren’t. This sports bra/tank top puts support at the forefront along with light padding, which can also be removed. One reviewer, a 32DD reviewer at all, said: “The material is thick and supportive. TBH, I’m surprised how good the material is for only $20. I’m totally going to be purchasing more.”
She Wears Pocket Shorts
Summer calls for shorts. Whether you’re in the gym or working out alfresco, sometimes it’s just too dang hot to pull on another pair of yoga pants. These quick-dry running shorts are lightweight, with breathable fabric and an underwear liner that won’t ride up on you. And, they not only have a pocket for whatever you might want to stick in there, but it’s a zippered pocket to boot. Pure magic.
Stock Up on Socks
Let me tell you a sad story about me going on a walk with my neighbor where I didn’t wear socks with my shoes and ended up with massive blisters on both feet that took weeks to heal. The end. Seriously, don’t wear tennis shoes without socks, especially when they’re as inexpensive as these sets from Saucony. Grab a pack of eight or 16 in dark or light shades and be smarter than Beth.
A Chic Set for Your Sets
There are two classes of people in the world: The people who go to the gym in a holey T-shirt and sweats and the people who go to the gym looking like they just stepped out of a fashion magazine. If you’re the former striving to be the latter, grab this two-piece set that features matching high-waisted yoga pants and a stretchy sports bra. It’s available in more than 40 colors.
Get Comfy in These Crops
If you’re a low-frills, no-nonsense kind of person, you need these cropped athletic pants with a drawcord waist. Made by Danskin, a name synonymous with athletic apparel, you’re just about guaranteed quality apparel that’s comfortable and stands the test of time. One reviewer called them “super comfy lightweight capri sweats with useful pockets.” If that’s not the definition of “perfect pants,” I don’t know what is.
Get Active With This Champion Tank
If you want to train like a champion, you have to dress like a champion, which is decidedly simpler with this active tank from, well, Champion. Champion is well known for its athleisure apparel, including this tank which is beloved by nearly 4,000 reviewers. It comes in colors that will match all your existing shorts and yoga pants and features a loose fit for comfort and mobility.
Don’t Skirt the Issue
I can hear you now: “Nobody works out in a skirt.” Uh, tell that to tennis superstar Coco Gauff. And, surprise, this isn’t just a skirt because it has bike shorts (with a pocket!) underneath. Reviewers rave about the fact that the bike shorts don’t ride up and the length of the skirt, which is a happy medium between “too short” and “too long.” The pockets, according to one, are big enough to “hold one Pickleball in each.” That’s good info.
Cross-Back Sports Bras in a Three-Pack
If you like more of a strappy look when you’re working out, these medium-support sports bras might be your new favorite purchase. Made from moisture-wicking fabric in a pull-on style, these sports bras are ideal for anything from yoga and Pilates to boxing or fitness classes. They come in a pack of three, which makes that $20 price tag look even better.
Sweat It Out
I don’t like sweating O.K..? I just don’t like it … inside, outside, wherever. So, imagine my surprise when I learned that some people not only like sweating, but do. it. on. purpose. Like, whuttt? The Sweet Sweat waist trimmer can be worn under clothes or with a sports bra during exercising to get the snatched waist of your dreams. The trimmer itself is made of fast-drying fabric. You can add Sweet Sweat gel to enhance your efforts.
The Perfect Pants for a Yogi
Why do these companies create lengths like 7/8? I don’t want to do math when I’m buying pants, c’mon. Regardless, these high-waisted yoga pants in a 7/8th length are perfect in so many ways, earning a No. 1 ranking on Amazon in the “women’s yoga leggings” category. Maybe it’s the pockets … yeah, it’s probably the pockets. With 25 percent spandex, it has plenty of stretch for all your stretching.
Blouson, Blouse Off
Think of this purchase like two shirts in one. Underneath, you get a sporty bikini top that fits comfortably against your body. On top, you get a blousy top with sassy T-back styling. I love that the print underneath extends to the top of the shirt for perfect coordination. You’ll also get a pair of matching boyshorts for a complete look. Use it for working out or pack it for a trip to the beach.
Stay Matched with a Complete Wardrobe
If you’re looking for the biggest bang for your buck on this list, this workout outfit set is money. But, not that much money. The set includes a sports bra, T-shirt, shorts, pants and a jacket for a variety of options no matter where your workout takes you. Available in grey, green or pink in sizes up to XL, one reviewer called it “so worth the buy.”
A Two-Pack of Essential Tees
You can get T-shirts anywhere, but you can’t get Amazon Essentials T-shirts anywhere. This option offers you a set of two for right around $10 a shirt in great coordinating colors. The moisture-wicking tech-stretch fabric will take you from gym to grocery store with ease. I’m a big fan of the navy/orchid combo or the one pictured above — bright pink and navy.
Throw On a Long-Sleeved Crop Top
Got abs? Flaunt them! This cropped sweatshirt shows just enough skin to be classy without giving away all the goods. Despite the fact it’s a sweatshirt, it’s lightweight to keep you from overheating during a workout and the design, which hits between your bra line and your belly button, is designed to keep your waist looking slim and trim. The wine red color is dope.
Biker (Gang) Shorts
You do not have to ride a bike to wear biker shorts. Repeat: You do not have to ride a bike to wear biker shorts, especially these cuties that come in tons of colors, patterns and even lengths. Is it clear yet that I appreciate pockets? Because I do and these shorts have room for, presumably, your smartphone, whether you’re walking in the park or riding on your Peloton.
This Hoodie is a Goodie
At the beach, we call these rash guards, which were originally designed to protect surfers’ skin. But, if you want to wear it as a simple hoodie, I’m O.K. with that, too, especially with the bright color selections like this neon yellow. Made of stretchable fabric with water-shedding capabilities, this shirt offers SPF 50+ sun protection for just 25 bucks.
Sporty Capris for Cheap
Love the look of Adidas, but hate the price tag? These $20 sport joggers are the perfect solution. Yes, I know, they only have two stripes on the legs instead of three, but is that extra stripe worth another $30 to $40? I don’t think so either. Made of a breathable soft French terry, choose a smaller size for a more fitted look or size up for a baggier look like you see in the photo.
The Best Workout Tanks on Amazon
I don’t work out; I think we established that early on in the opening of this list. However, I did buy this pack of three workout tops from icyzone after seeing them myself on another list like this. And, it was totally worth the purchase. They’re ultra-lightweight, come in really fun colors and end up being only about seven dollars each. A lot of reviewers recommend sizing up and I do, too.
A Two-Piece Fit for Yoga
This workout set with a one-shoulder top will have you looking like the chicest yogi in class, even if you just rushed out of a house full of screaming toddlers. It comes in black or “desert mist,” which is kind of like a nude or tan, and has moisture-wicking performance fabric that’s both stretchy and breathable for all your downward dogs and sun salutations.
Throw On a Compression Base Layer
I don’t understand compression tops, alright? I just don’t. Why do you want to keep everything sucked in when you can let it all hang loose? This base layer is made of dry-fit material and — oh, hey! — you get three with your purchase instead of just one. I especially love the black tanks that are trimmed in shades of neon green, blue and pink. You can grab these in sizes up to 3X.
Strappy Sports Bras for a Pretty Peek
I’m back with more straps! Some people really love a touch of sexiness while they’re working out. These strappy sports bras feature crisscross straps in the back for a peek of prettiness while you’re getting your sweat on or a layer under regular clothes like a tank or a cardigan. Yes, that’s right, you can totally wear these even if you’re not hitting the gym.
Here’s an option for all my loose-fitting clothing gals. This loose workout top is a great piece to throw over another layer… like those strappy sports bras we just discussed, maybe? The cutouts on the back add interesting detail in a way that’s both classy and subtly sexy. The tunic length is great over leggings, too. Grab it in some basic shades that match everything — black, grey, white and red.
Throw on Double-Layer Shorts
Double-layer shorts with a hidden liner pocket? Sign me up! These shorts are packed full of great features in a small package. The waistband is designed for better tummy control, the layers are color-coordinated and there’s a reflective logo for nighttime running safety. There’s also a zippered pocket tucked into the shorts’ lining. I’m a big fan of the pink pictured above.
These Trail Running Shoes are for the Minimalist in All of Us
Shoes are expensive. Especially athletic shoes. Especially women’s athletic shoes. These minimalist trail-running shoes have “barefoot” right in the description, enabling you to really connect with the terrain around you. These come in so many cool colors and won’t break the bank at right around $35 per pair. Minimalist shoes give you the feeling of walking barefoot, with a good amount of freedom of movement.
No-Slip Socks to Keep You Grounded
I know it’s hard to believe that there are different socks for different activities, but there are. You need no-show socks for some tennis shoes, compression socks that we’ll talk about later and these non-slip socks that are perfect for activities like ballet, barre and Pilates. One reviewer said: “They kept my feet warm (and hid ugly toes) and they gave good grip during standing postures. Excellent value for two pairs and a cute carrying bag.”
Keep Your Gear Near with a Running Belt
The greatest thing about this workout fashion find on Amazon is that it can be used with literally any other articles of clothing in your closet. It’s a running belt and it’s great for stashing keys, cash, your phone and more when you’re out for a run or walk. The zippered closure keeps everything safe and in its place and the lightweight, but durable material is a comfortable add-on for whatever you’re wearing.
Skirt + Leggings = Best Of Both Worlds
This pair of skirted leggings is giving me all the 1980s vibes for some reason. Maybe it’s the pattern of the skirt in the picture above or maybe it’s just the layered styling. The leggings are stretchy in a three-quarter length and the skirt is flared and full with a high waist that offers tummy control. If you’re a skirt kind of girl, but want a little more modesty, this is the perfect choice.
Serve Up Style in this Tennis Skirt
While we’re talking about skirts, can we dish on how adorable this pleated leopard print number is? It literally makes me want to take up tennis and my hand-eye coordination is really not on the level for that. Modesty won’t be an issue either because it has built-in shorts under the skirt. Leopard print not your thing? The feather, rainbow and colored dots are super cute, too.
Look Pulled Together With This Cardio Jacket
I don’t know exactly what a cardio jacket is, but this full-zip beauty with breathable fabric is one according to the manufacturer. I’m going to guess you can use this in the gym, during yoga or in any other fitness opportunity when you need a little more coverage (or warmth). The breathable fabric is also moisture-wicking, which means it’ll dry quickly if you sweat through it.
Lightweight Running Shoes in All The Colors
I’m here to tell you, no matter what color your gym clothes are, there are a pair of breathable running shoes here that will match them. From neon green to orange to blue, you can afford to buy multiple pairs of these since they’ll only set you back $20 to $25. This reviewer seems pleased: “These are great walking shoes or light gym workout shoes.” Plus, they look great on.
Fly By in These Under Armour Shorts
I threw this into the pile for two reasons. First, to showcase that Amazon has plenty of big brands like Under Armour. Second, to highlight that you can score a great deal on name-brand workout gear on Amazon (and two-day shipping with Prime!). These Under Armour Fly By 2.0 running shorts are as inexpensive as $18 and available in a wide range of colors and sizes.
Make Yoga Extra Strappy
This is the last strappy sports bra on the last, I promise. I think … maybe. But, it was too cute to leave off. This option features four-way stretch and removable bra cups that can bolster (or decrease) the amount of support you require. The bottom of the sports bra is designed to resist rolling and, let’s be honest, it would even be cute under a blazer or cardigan when the weather cools.
Tee Up Compliments in This Golf Polo
I wish I always looked as neat and pulled together as this model looks in this sleeveless golf polo shirt. (Maybe I should buy said sleeveless golf polo shirt? I digress.) This design is made of breathable fabric and the zipper at the top adds visual interest. But, I really just love that purple … or maybe the dark green … oh, or what about the navy? Decisions, decisions.
Because Everything’s Better in Leggings
Listen, if you want to wear these leggings everywhere and anywhere, I’m not here to judge you … even if you never set foot in a gym. I live in leggings and I make no apologies for it. Who wants to put on regular pants anyway? These leggings are squat-proof. Whether you’re doing actual squats or you’re reaching into a cabinet for that extra bag of chips, you’re covered.
Get Tanked With This Set of Two
I shared those icyzone shirts a few products ago, but I couldn’t let this list go by without adding in these icyzone tanks with a T-back design. As much as I dislike sweating, I think these would be the perfect option to keep you covered while eliminating extra material that could make you hotter. The exaggerated armhole design will give you all the range of motion, too.
Knee-High Socks That Support Recovery
Let’s end on socks, shall we? We’ve already discussed that different socks meet different needs. These knee-high compression socks are designed to support recovery after a workout or to aid in pain relief and discomfort after the fact. The design is at least visually interesting as well, which is important if you’re going to wear something halfway up your leg.
Get Sexy in a Matching Set
I’ve given you a matching set with pants and a matching set with a jacket, but what about a matching workout set with shorts? There’s something about this tonal look that I really enjoy. It’s like it says, “I care about matching, but I’m not trying too hard.” Grab it in green, blue or grey for right around $15 to $20. With a touch of Spandex, it’ll be both comfortable and functional.
