I’m something of a kitchen hoarder. No, you’re not going to see me on TV stepping over and around boxes piled to the ceiling anytime soon, but I just can’t resist a gadget that will make my time in the kitchen easier and faster. Whether it’s a new can opener, an upgraded air fryer, or utensils that do double-duty, I’m always on the lookout for the latest and greatest additions to my arsenal.
So, the opportunity to write about countertop appliances was like sending me on a window-shopping expedition. Do you window shop on Amazon? Phew, I do — all the time. I love being able to explore all my options and read reviews without a sales associate asking me, “Is there anything I can help you find?” On this particular shopping trip, I found a gadget that will get my cold brew brewed more quickly, an easier way to omelets, and a toaster so cute you’ll want to eat all the bread, all the time. Clear off your countertops — “new” is incoming!
We hope you find these products as awesome as we do. Just an FYI: We are a participant in the Amazon affiliate program, and Brainjolt may receive a share of sales from links on this page. Prices on Amazon fluctuate so anything mentioned below might change as soon we publish it!
Egg It On
Eggs are a non-stop struggle for me — not eating them, peeling them. This Dash deluxe rapid egg cooker will let you cook up to 12 eggs at once in a matter of minutes. Whether you like your eyes hard-boiled, soft-boiled, poached, or scrambled, you can do it with this gadget. It’s also a great tool for making individual omelets or steaming a variety of other foods like veggies, seafood, and more.
Get Out Of The Weigh
I couldn’t function without a kitchen scale and this stainless steel option with an LCD screen is an inexpensive investment. This scale will handle up to 11 pounds of food (or even a package you need to mail), displaying results in ounces, grams, or pounds. This one runs on batteries, which are included, and uses advanced sensor technology to give you accurate measurements.
Cold Brew In Minutes
The only thing I like more than cold brew is cold brew that can be made in 15 minutes, not hours or overnight like many cold brew makers. This electric rapid cold brewer is a godsend with its advanced technology that spins coffee ground through a “water tornado” to make coffee quick. And, hey, if it takes a tornado to get me caffeinated more quickly, I’m 100% here for it.
Air Fry, My Guy
Have you seen the meme that says, “If you made it through 2020 without investing in an air fryer, raise your hand?” It’s not 2020 anymore, but there’s never a wrong time to add an air fryer like this two-quart turbofry to your kitchen arsenal. This one reaches temps of up to 400 degrees and lets you get a crispy exterior without using heavy oils. The fryer basket can be thrown in the dishwasher when you’re finished, which is a blessing in itself.
A Different Kind of Vacuum
I’ve never been a big user of vacuum sealer machines, but a gifted sous vide tool this past Christmas has me rethinking the entire thing. Why? Because you need the power of vacuum seal to make sous vide work. (It’s a whole thing. Read up on it.) This vacuum sealer machine can seal up to three bags of food at a time and has separate modes for dry and moist foods and both normal and gentle modes.
The only thing better than waffles are extra-thick and fluffy Belgian waffles and this two-slice Belgian waffle maker will get you there. (Or, hey, there’s a four-slice option as well.) An indicator light will tell you when the power is one and when to add the batter to the easy-clean nonstick grids. It comes in a compact design that won’t take up a bunch of space but will make you the GOAT of breakfasts.
Put Pizzazz In Your Kitchen
Sure, you already have an oven so why would you want this Pizzazz Plus rotating oven? For starters, it looks cool. It also saves as much as 60% in energy compared to a conventional oven. If you’re not a fan of pizza, don’t worry! As you can see from the photo, you can count any number of foods on it, thanks to top and bottom heating elements that evenly cook both sides.
Stick With It
I’m not going to lie: An immersion blender is one of my all-time favorite kitchen appliances. This multipurpose option from Mueller Austria features an ergonomic grip, nine-speed options, and three interchangeable attachments. Do everything from froth the milk for your morning coffee to blending soup right in the pan. The attachments pop off and go in the dishwasher and you haven’t dirtied any additional pots or pans.
Omelet You Finish
If you’ve never tried to flip an omelet in a frying pan, you don’t understand the struggle. This non-stick omelet and frittata maker will do the hard work for you in just a matter of minutes. But, omelets and frittatas are just the start; you can also use this handy appliance for pizza pockets, apple turnovers, and more. You can make two customized individual portions in one machine.
I’m a 43-year-old woman who has never had an electric can opener … until the past two or so weeks. This Kitchen Mama electric can opener has changed my life and I’m not being melodramatic; a recent health diagnosis made this almost a must-have for me. This one operates hands-free and cuts into the can so you’ll have no sharp lid edges. It has a push-button start/stop that’s simple to use.
Steaming is one of the healthiest ways to cook, we all know that. But, how, unless you have the right gadget? This two-tier food steamer will let you prepare vegetables, meat, fish, and poultry at the same time, without the need for oil. Transparent housing lets you see the progress of your meal and a 60-minute built-in timer could come in handy. The five-quart sizing is perfect for feeding one or two.
Press Your Luck
Tofu interests me … but it also scares me. I never know which type to be, what to do with it after I get home, or how to season it. This tofu press maker will take care of at least one of those issues, making it simpler to drain tofu in preparation for cooking it. Set the tofu in the strainer basket, pop on the lid, and walk away. In a few hours, your tofu will be ready … if you know what to do with it.
Snacks With Mickey
Being a relatively new Floridian, I think it’s required for me to include at least one Disney-inspired appliance on this list. This Mickey Mouse popcorn popper is adorable and functional, popping up to six cups of fresh popcorn at one time. This works with a simple on/off switch and comes with the scoops for both your oil and your kernels. Your little ones (or maybe even you) will love bringing Mickey into your kitchen.
You Chop And You Don’t Stop
Chopping small things with a giant knife is tricky at best. This electric food chopper eliminates the precision work required for chopping things like garlic, onion, ginger, and nuts. You can also use it for bigger jobs, too, like peppers, carrots, vegetables, meat, potatoes, and baby food. This chopper supports wireless charging and comes with two sets of blades so you can have one clean and one dirty.
Sandwiches In A Second
What if you could have a breakfast sandwich every morning without having to make a stop at a drive-thru? This Hamilton Beach dual breakfast sandwich maker can be used at any time of the day to craft your perfect sandwich in five minutes or less. Following a keto or paleo lifestyle? No problem, you can use it without the bread, too. An included cookbook is a good starting point for sandwich ideas.
Imagine with me for a moment a morning that doesn’t require you to be a short-order cook for the cranky under-10 set. Are you with me? This double cereal dispenser is a perfect self-serve option for kids who won’t reseal the bag or parents who want five extra minutes of peace. It also doubles as a dry food dispenser for nuts, candy, granola, and more. Each twist delivers one ounce of goodies.
The Perfect Blend
Multipurpose gadgets are my favorite. This one is a combined food chopper and personal blender that allows you to do everything from making juice and smoothies to chopping ingredients like meat, onions, and vegetables. The one-button operation means all you have to do is press for start and release to stop. You’ll also get two sets of blade assemblies and containers, reducing the likelihood of cross-contamination of mixing raw food and blending juice.
Griddle Me This
In my next life, I’m going to have one of those hibachi grills right in my kitchen. Until then, this nonstick electric griddle will have to do. Make eggs, cookies, pancakes, grilled cheese, even stir fry, burgers, and quesadillas without the need for multiple pots and pans. A heat dial lets you set the griddle at your specified temperature and a drip tray catches excess grease, making clean-up a breeze.
Put It In A Panini
Ordinarily, I would say, “Don’t smash your sandwich!”, except that’s the whole point of this panini press/grill combo from the master of countertop grills, George Foreman. With removable plates that make clean-up a cinch, this press/grill can accommodate everything from your favorite sandwiches to burgers and veggies. Heck, you may never turn your oven on after buying this.
Dehydrate At Home
I didn’t buy an air fryer during quarantine, but I did buy a dehydrator and it’s totally love. This electric food dehydrator has five stackable trays so you can dehydrate to your heart’s content. I use mine for making jerky, but it’s also a great tool for fresh snacks like dehydrated fruits and vegetables. Drying out food with this gadget only removes the moisture from it but all the nutrients and minerals remain.
Eat This Toast You Will
Isn’t this the most adorable toast you’ve ever seen? (File that under “Things You Never Thought You’d Type.”) This two-slice toaster bears the image of Baby Yoda from the hit series, “The Mandalorian.” Not only does the image appear on the toaster’s alien green casing, but it shows up as a “stamp” on your toast itself. Smear jelly on him, you will.
There are few times that “hot water” is considered a good thing, but this electric speed-boil kettle is definitely one of them. With this simply-designed kettle that includes a safety auto-off feature, you can have hot water for tea, hot chocolate, and more in just a matter of minutes. A blue LED light lets you know when the water is in the process of boiling and the whole thing shuts off when it detects there’s no water inside.
If you’re the only one in the house who drinks smoothies and you’re tired of cleaning out a ginormous blender, this personal-sized blender that delivers single servings is a worthwhile investment. Portable and convenient, this blender includes a cup with a travel lid that you can blend right into (that conveniently fits in your car’s cup holder). Grab it in pink, blue, or silver.
Guy Meets Grill
A grill is a must-have, but many of us have lives that don’t easily accommodate it because we live in apartments, we deal with weather that’s too cold for grilling, or having a grill is just too much extra work. This electric smokeless indoor grill produces less smoke than a standard grill, has no fumes, and has an extra-large cooking surface that accommodates multiple foods at the same time.
What if you could season your dishes with only the power of gravity? This electric salt and pepper grinder functions by simply flipping it over — with no button-pushing required. Various grinder levels can be chosen for fine to coarse deposits on your meal. You can even use other types of solid grain seasonings, too. The blue LED light helps you see exactly how much you’re getting.
Make toast, bagels, pizza, paninis, even cookies in this Dash mini toaster oven. This countertop appliance is great for smaller portions, picky eaters, or preparing food for on the go. Plus, the mini size makes it more energy-efficient than your oven. The baking tray, oven rack, and crumb tray are all removable and dishwasher safe, which is great because I loathe hand-washing things like this.
Seal Or No Seal
It’s the world’s teeniest flat iron … or is it? This is actually a mini bag sealer that, once heated up, has the ability to re-seal plastic bags, snack bags, aluminum foil bags, potato chips bags, kraft paper bags, and more. It works quickly, too, heating up and finishing its tasks in three to five seconds.
Mix It Up
I know, I know, you probably have one of those fancy countertop KitchenAid mixers that weighs about a thousand pounds, so why would you possibly need this hand mixer with an included storage case? This hand mixer is equipped with five variable speed settings, a one-button eject design for the stainless steel beaters, and that storage cup I mentioned earlier? It can totally double as a measuring cup. This unit comes with five attachments.
Time To Grind
Whether you’re preparing your own homemade baby food or chopping up things like coffee beans or spices, this two-in-one food chopper and grinder is a must-have for your countertop. A one-touch button allows you to grind or mince different types of food into coarse-to-fine pieces with powerful stainless steel blades. Waterproof in design, all the pieces can be removed for cleaning.
This sous vide cooking apparatus is the reason I had to invest in that food sealer a few numbers above. Sous vide cooking, which means “underwater” in French, involves cooking food slowly at precise low temperatures over a long period of time. What results is flavorful food that cooks evenly and retains all its moisture and nutrients. Attach the sous vide to a pan, submerge food in a sealed bag and get to cooking!
Someone out there just needs a single cup of coffee to get the day started. I don’t know who you are, but you have my applause. This compact, single-serve coffee brewer won’t occupy a large footprint on your countertop and delivers fresh brewed coffee is as little as 30 seconds. Use K-Cups or grounds for limitless potential and enjoy a self-cleaning feature that will free up your time.
I love the vintage-style, streamlined design of this personal, single-serve blender from Frigidaire. This small blender packs a punch, crushing and pulverizing ice, frozen fruits, and more. A chrome lever starts — and stops — this blender, which includes one BPA-free jar and one glass Mason jar. One reviewer said, “This little blender is as functional as it is adorable. It’s so retro.”
Cook It Slow And Low
It’s hard to believe that slow cookers are still a thing in the day and age of the InstantPot, but they definitely boast some unique features that can’t be beat. This oval seven-quart Crock-Pot cooks quickly when you get home or can be set on low to prepare your food while you’re at work. One-pot cooking means next to no clean-up, too, especially if you invest in these slow cooker liners.
Nice To Meat You
I’m always so jealous of chefs using meat grinders on popular cooking shows. Maybe it’s because it’s one of the few kitchen appliances I haven’t purchased. That may change with this electric meat grinder that can easily chop and mix all kinds of meats, fruits, and vegetables in six to eight seconds. Featuring a 3.5L capacity, the grinder’s bowl, cover, and blade can all be thrown into the dishwasher. Score!
Over the past year, I’ve finally graduated from what I would call “satisfactory knives” to the “high-quality knives” produced by American company Cutco. And, while Cutco has its own sharpening capabilities, there are times I need my own electric knife sharpener. This one promises to deliver professional results at home with a two-stage sharpening system and a sharp 15-degree edge.
Burn, Baby, Burn
How many times have I said, “If I just had one more burner …” For big cooking days, this portable electric stove with a single burner could be the answer to my dilemma. Its mini size makes it a perfect choice for dorms, studios, and RVs or as an extra burner to handle warm sauces, scrambled eggs, grilled cheese, soup, pasta, vegetables, and more. It comes in a double-burner size, too, for extra coin.
Hot Pot, Why Not?
One social media trend that has been calling out to me lately is the hot pot meal, an interactive dining experience that involves a variety of thinly-sliced meats and vegetables designed to be dipped (and cooked) in a boiling broth. This electric hot pot with power adjustment functions in that role or can be used to sauté food thanks to its food-grade non-stick coating.
