37 Toys and Games That Are Just for the Adults

Who says toys and games are just for kids? Definitely not me, I’ll tell you that much. I think adults need play even more than kids. Think about it. How often do you actually sit down and play a game? How many times a week do you take a little break and pick up a fun toy? Probably never, or at least not often. But adults need play to stimulate their brains just like kids do. And adults can have just as much fun as kids can, if they give themselves a chance.

Give yourself a chance with these awesome toys and games. Puzzles are a great way to stimulate your brain without being “too childish” if that’s a worry you have. RC cars are awesome fun for those more engine-minded folk. And my personal favorite are the card games that let you bring your friends in on the fun with you. There’s something for every sort. Find your next idea for playtime somewhere on this list and get down with a puzzle, game, or something to capture your imagination, even for just a little while.

Puzzle Over This

  via Amazon

Who doesn’t love a good puzzle? Especially one that looks gorgeous after it’s finished. This puzzle looks like a piece of art, so if you’re into puzzling, it’s definitely one you’ll want to frame afterwards. Great for lazy Sunday afternoons or a little brain break post-workday.

Go Full Michael Scott

  via Amazon

“That’s what she said” jokes aren’t just for “The Office”! This game is one hundred percent not for the kiddos, but it is perfect for grown up game nights or fun family events — after the kids have gone to bed, of course. Full of inappropriate and wildly hilarious jokes, this will keep you rolling.

Bring the Bar to You

  via Amazon

Too old and tired to go out to the bar anymore? I know I am. I love going out, but I have my limits, so it’s nice to have this dartboard at home so I can harnass the bar atmosphere whenever I feel like it, without having to leave the comfort of my own living room.

The Name Says it All

  via Amazon

First and foremost, you should know that there are no winners in this game, so if you’re in it to win it, this isn’t the game for you. There are losers though, and losers are whoever hits seven cards first, so you’d better play your cards right and quickly!

Like Jenga, but with a Twist

  via Amazon

Have you ever thought, “yeah, Jenga’s fun, but it could be more fun?” If not, you should, because that’s what this game is. This game is so fun and so raunchy, it’ll definitely keep you and your friends, or you and your partner because you can play it with as few as two people, entertained for hours.

Pool Games, but for Grown Ups

  via Amazon

So, maybe you’ve outgrown playing mermaids in the pool. I think that’s sad, but I also think it’s understandable — the older you get, the harder it is to play pretend. So, instead of mermaids, you should try playing this awesome ring toss game. Easily turn it into a drinking game if you wanna get funky.

This Puzzle Will Last For Days

  via Amazon

If you like puzzles, this is the puzzle for you. This isn’t easy. At. All. The gradients coupled with the sheer number of pieces is just too much to handle, unless you’re a puzzle whiz like some of you out there. But think about how satisfying it’ll be to see the finished product.

Get Your RC On

  via Amazon

RC cars are definitely something you think of as being “for kids”, but they’re for everyone! You should be able to play with them as long as you want to, and this RC car is a little more complicated so it’ll keep the attention of grown ups probably better than younger kids.

Bring the Game Show Home

  via Amazon

I love game shows, and I’m sure I’m not alone in that. I’m espeically sure I’m not the only one out there that absolutely loves Family Feud. It’s such a fun game and the rules are easy to grab onto so you don’t have to worry about teaching any drunk friends — even they can figure it out.

To Be Honest, This Game Rocks

  via Amazon

The joke is that this game is called TBH. I’m very funny, I know. This is a great game for lawyers. Or for anyone that likes to debate. It’s all about hypothetical delimmas and how each of your friends think they would react to them. It’s fun and you’re sure to learn tons about your friend group.

Adults need fidget toys, too. Especially those of us that work in offices and find ourselves needing something to do with our hands during especially long meetings. It’s easy to spin so you can keep it moving while you’re doing other work or thinking of other things.

This Game is On-Trend

  via Amazon

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read the words “tell me… without telling me,” online. It’s very “in” right now and I think this game would tell all of your friends how cool and hip you are without telling them. You know what I mean?

Play Spy

  via Amazon

The Da Vinci Code was a sensation that absolutely swept the nation years ago, but it’s still got a hold, for sure. This mini Cryptex looks just like the Cryptex from the movie, so super fans will love it, but anyone would enjoy playing around with this fun grown up toy.

Play Anywhere with This Travel Cornhole

  via Amazon

Cornhole is such a fun game! It’s an easy game to understand, so no need for longwinded explanations on rules. This set is better than the average set because it can be folded up and taken anywhere with you for fun on-the-go wherever you go.

There Are No Rules!

  via Amazon

No rules? How can you even play a game like that? Easy! You flip a card and follow its instructions. It’s an easy-peasy game for absolutely anyone — as long as they’re grown ups! Because this is definitely a drinking game and not suited for anyone under 21.

A Mini Puzzle for Quick Fun

  via Amazon

Mini puzzles are great for everyone, because they’re not too time consuming but they’re still a little more complicated than large-piece kids puzzles. And this is my favorite mini puzzle because it’s still complex — just look at the coloring on that! You can’t tell up from down.

A Real Game of Consequences

  via Amazon

This game is all about fast reflexes and consequences. It’s pretty simple to play, but if you lose, you get a little shock to the hand. I love games like this — high consequence — because it’s so much fun to watch your friends get a little shock. It’s especially fun if your friends are a little tipsy.

Build Your Own White House

  via Amazon

If you haven’t tried a 3D puzzle before, you’ve got to try this one. It’s not too hard, so you don’t have to worry about getting in over your head, but it’s still complicated enough that it’ll keep you entertained, which is why I love this 3D puzzle for those just starting out.

This Puzzle is a Framer For Sure

  via Amazon

This puzzle is giving vintage vibes. I love how old school and classic it looks. It doesn’t seem nearly as complicated as the other puzzles, but definitely as challenging with 1000 pieces. It’s currently on my puzzle wishlist, I just have to find the perfect frame for it so I can save my success forever.

3D Ship for the Pirate in You

  via Amazon

I’m clearly a fan of all puzzles, but I think 3D puzzles take a certain kind of person, and that person is not me. I like easier 3D puzzles, this one is a little too hard for me, but I have several friends who absolutely love it’s difficulty level and they’re all grown ups — definitely a post-work stress reliever.

Bottle of Liquor Not Included

  via Amazon

Clearly this one isn’t for the kiddos. You’ll need your favorite boozy beverage and your favorite friends to kick this one off. You have to vote for the winner of each round and try to get at your friends. But the goal is to get drunk, so do the rules even matter?

Don’t Be the Last One Holding This Potato

  via Amazon

I don’t know if “hot potato” was ever a real game, but I know I’ve played “hot potato” by myself in my kitchen before with a variety of far-too-hot foods. This potato isn’t hot, but it will shock you if you don’t toss it back fast enough. High stakes without the bad burns.

Build Your Own Camera

  via Amazon

Sadly, this camera doesn’t actually work once it’s been built, but it does look cool! This is a great side project for after work or when you have a free Sunday afternoon. It’s easy to pick up or put down without losing your place in the process.

Caption This

  via Amazon

Just kidding, I’m captioning this one! It won’t be as funny as the captions in this card game, but I’m not a game creator. When you play this, you’re given a picture and your friends supply you with their funniest captions. You choose the winner and the player with the most wins is the ultimate winner.

Matrix Yourself

  via Amazon

Ask yourself the tough questions. Better yet, ask your friends the tough questions! You’ll be given two, wildly inappropriate, options and you’ll have to choose the better of the two. You’ll find out tons about your friends with this game, maybe even more than you wanted to know.

Who knew Truth or Dare could get more fun? Apparently the folks over at Truth or Drink did — and they weren’t wrong, honestly. This is way more fun than Truth or Dare. And definitely more adult. The rules are as old as time, but in case you need a refresher; you tell the truth, or you drink!

Taboo’s been around forever, but that’s because it’s such a fun game! It’s fast-paced and only for quick thinkers. It’s not raunchy, unless you make it raunchy, but it’s definitely more fun if you only have grown ups playing it. Then you can get a little more Taboo.

How often do you realize you don’t know something you probably should know? I go through that at least once a day. This version of Trivial Pursuit is inspired by the iHeart Radio “Stuff You Should Know” podcast, so fans of that pod will definitely win this one. Careful who you play it with!
