Mads Mikkelsen announced the possibility of Johnny Depp returning to the Fantastic Beasts franchise after winning the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
To many fans’ disappointment, we didn’t see Depp play his character, Gillert Grindelwald, in Fantastic Beasts: The secret of Dumbledore.
But now there may be a chance we see Depp make his return to the franchise once more…
The false allegation of Depp being an abuser and s*xually assaulting his ex-wife almost cost him everything.
Including being removed from big-titled movies, such as Fantastic Beasts and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Warner Bros forced Depp to resign from his movies, and so did Disney.
But Danish actor, Mads Mikkelsen, praised Depp for his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise and said: “Obviously, well, now the course has changed – he won the suit, the court case– so let’s see if he comes back. He might. I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job.”
He continued: “Having said that, I could not copy it. There’s there was no way I could just copy it because it’s so much him. It would be creative suicide. So, we had to come up with something else, something that was mine, and build a bridge between him and me.”
It’s been a few months since the defamation trial victory, and Depp has already gone back into acting.
Could this possibly mean Depp will go back to Warner Bros and Disney?
Only time will tell.
As of now, the production company has not announced a fourth Fantastic Beasts movie, but we hope to see Depp return to play Grindelwald if the company ever makes another installment.
