While we all know the tragic story of the death of Princess Diana, for many of us, it’s still a topic rife with questions.
The manner in which she died, including the exact timeframe for the horrific accident, has led some to question whether the public had been told the whole truth.
And with more and more details coming out as time passes, it appears that we’re still a long way away from getting the whole story.

Now, Diana was born close to the royal family…
She lived her formative years on the beautiful Sandringham Estate, a property her family actually rented from the royals.
She was often described as shy and kind and was more creative than academically intelligent.
Diana worked a range of fairly regular jobs in her youth, including working at a preschool.
She worked as a teaching assistant while living in London.
And worked a series of fairly low-paying jobs before that — although her mom did buy her a flat of her own for her eighteenth birthday, so she wasn’t doing too badly.
She became engaged to Prince Charles in 1981.
A little-known fact about the pair’s relationship is that, before dating Diana, Charles had actually been dating her big sister, Sarah. Diana and Charles’s relationship was pretty formal, with her reportedly calling him “sir” throughout their courtship.
But it was soon evident that the pair were better suited.
After meeting only twelve times, Charles proposed to Diana. The pair announced their engagement in February 1981. During the broadcast, many remember Charles being oddly reluctant to say he was in love with Diana.
Their wedding took place at St Paul’s Cathedral in 1981 and made her Princess of Wales.
The wedding was watched by over 750 million people around the world, including Diana’s three-and-a-half-minute walk down the aisle.
A little while later, the pair announced they were expecting a baby…
The two announced their pregnancy just 4 months after tying the knot, and, on June 21, 1982, they welcomed Prince William into the world.
Prince Harry was born 2 years later on 15th September 1984.
However, although they were keeping up appearances, all wasn’t quite so sunny in the relationship between Charles and Diana.
But Diana didn’t let that come between her and her children.
One thing Diana was absolutely dedicated to was being a mother. She had strong ideas about how she wanted her kids to be raised, often giving them more freedom than traditional royal heirs.
She was dedicated to using her massive platform to better the world and often took on roles that weren’t seen to be appropriate for her royal status.
Including the land mine crisis.
She also challenged the stigma behind HIV with her gloveless handshake at the height of the AIDS epidemic.
Unlike the typical Royal wife, Diana was dead set on doing work for herself and for the betterment of the world, earning her the nickname “The People’s Princess.”
But sadly, this didn’t bode well for Diana.
On top of Diana’s refusal to sacrifice her identity for the sake of her title, she and Charles also had a thirteen-year age gap, which seemingly started to become a problem.
Charles was also in a long-standing affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles, even wearing cufflinks she bought him on his honeymoon with Diana.
According to many sources, Diana was aware of the affair, and it was something that continually made her feel inadequate and unconfident throughout her marriage.
They separated in 1992 after their marriage breakdown went public, and divorced in 1996.
And, by 1997, Diana was dating business mogul and son of Harrods owner, Dodi Fayed. Many speculated that the relationship was controversial to the Royal family due to the fact that Dodi was a Muslim.
Tragically, the same year, Diana and Dodi were involved in a fatal car crash.
The car that the two were traveling in through the Pont L’Alma tunnel in Paris suffered a horrendous crash, which was fatal for both Diana and Dodi, plus their driver, Henri Paul.
Her death came as a huge shock to her fans.
And the exact cause of the crash has long been up for debate, with some questioning the sobriety of the driver, and others blaming the irresponsible driving of paparazzi photographers.
The totally unexpected nature of her passing, alongside the fact that she was such a well-liked public figure, made her death and funeral into something of a media circus.
It garnered viewing figures of over thirty-two million in the UK, breaking all viewing records up to that point. Millions more watched around the world.
Since the devastating crash, many have shared their own conspiracy theories about what they think really happened to Diana.
There appeared to be elements of Diana’s death that just didn’t appear to add up. This had led certain factions to believe that there’s more to the story than what the public knows.
It seems that many believe she was assassinated.
The fact that she had divorced a member of the Royal family, and was (according to rumors) carrying the baby of an Egyptian Muslim who would be raised as a step-sibling to the heirs to the throne, could have been seen as a threat to the family.
In the twenty-five years since the accident, many have spoken out about her death…
One man who seems determined to make his voice of dissent heard is Sergeant Xavier Gourmelon, a firefighter who attended to Diana at the scene of the accident.
He revealed that the car was fairly wrecked, but many on the scene report that things didn’t look nearly as bad as they were later reported to be.
Diana was even supposedly conscious and aware at the time, and even reportedly said: “My God, what’s happened?”
Gourmelon said he was sure Diana would survive.
“I could see she had a slight injury to her right shoulder but, other than that, there was nothing significant. There was no blood on her at all,” he said.
“To be honest, I thought she would live. As far as I knew when she was in the ambulance she was alive and I expected her to live.
“But I found out later she had died in hospital,” he said.
Dodi’s father, Mohammed Al-Fayed, publicly stated that he believed that the crash was pre-planned.
After the verdict was returned, though, he pledged to end his crusade to prove that his son and Diana were murdered for the sake of William and Harry.
Since then, Diana’s death has still been the source of great mystery.
In 2017, the streets of London were paved with tributes to the late Diana to honor the twentieth anniversary of her death. And as time passes, more and more odd details seem set to be revealed
Today marks twenty-five years since the tragic death of Diana, and English barrister Michael Mansfield has spoken out about the devastating crash.
He believes her death wasn’t an accident, as the drivers of the mystery car and motorbike that were involved in the crash have never been traced.
Mansfield has said that an inquest into Diana and Dodi Fayed’s deaths could be re-opened if new information was revealed.
Discussing the possibility of the case reopening, he said: “The idea that it’s purely and simply a road accident is not right. So I want to dispel that. The truth does come to the surface in the end, but somebody’s got to be looking for it in order for that to happen. I do think that this is not a ‘case closed’ by any means.
“There’s much more to come out of this case in the long run, and it will surface somewhere.”
Discussing the inquest in April 2008, he said: “Questions still remain about whether this was a staged accident as the Princess herself had predicted. I’m anxious that it’s put straight. There were other vehicles inside the tunnel.
“Most importantly a black saloon in front was slowing/blocking the Mercedes’ progress and a motorcycle behind was tailgating the Mercedes.
“Two witnesses were in the tunnel. I called it a ‘ringside seat’, they were driving in the opposite direction.
“They saw what I call a ‘sandwich’. Neither the British police nor French police have established who was in the saloon in front of the Mercedes nor who was on the motorcycle. How is it that those vehicles haven’t been traced or the people driving them?”
He added: “A new inquest could be called if new information came to light.”
One thing’s for sure — whether it was an accident or something more insidious — Diana has been sorely missed in the twenty-five years since her passing, and her positive impact on the world during her thirty-six years cannot ever be understated.
