Surprisingly, two days later after his graduation in 1999, Bloom was cast in his first major role, playing Legolas in The Lord Of The Rings film trilogy in the years between 2001 and 2003.

At the same time, Bloom also played a brief role in Ridley Scott’s war film Black Hawk Dawn as PFC Todd Blackburn.

He gained such popularity by then, that in 2002, he was chosen as one of the Teen People’s “25 Hottest Stars Under 25” and was named People’s hottest Hollywood bachelor in the magazine’s 2004 list.

While all members of the cast of the Rings films were nominated for Best Ensemble Acting at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for three years in a row, they finally won in 2003 for the third film, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Bloom also won other awards, including the European Film Awards, Hollywood Festival Awards, Empire Awards, and the Teen Choice Awards as most of Bloom’s box office successes have been as part of an ensemble cast.

But that’s not all…

Bloom’s personal life started to hit the headlines majorly after his successful string of films.

He started dating Kate Bosworth in 2003 but ended the relationship four years later.

While he became known for his on-and-off relationships, Bloom began dating Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr in 2007.

By 2010, the couple got engaged and married in the following month, and even announced the following year that Kerr had given birth to a baby boy in January 2011, who they named Flynn.

Sadly, the couple announced their separation several months later and intended to end their marriage.

They officially divorced by the end of 2013.

But things did turn into a happy ending, when Bloom began dating singer Katy Perry in January 2016.

Although the couple confirmed they had split in February 2017, the latter decided to resume their relationship in February 2018, and went on to get engaged on 14 February 2019.

Katy gave birth to their daughter Daisy Dove Bloom on 26 August 2020.

Since then, Bloom has been very vocal about how Daisy has changed his and Katy’s life and revealed he spends quality father-daughter time with her.

During his interview with The Sunday Times, Bloom detailed his hyper-specific morning routine, from his 20-minute Buddhist chants and readings to his “quite L.A.” pre-breakfast drink of green powder, brain octane oil, collagen powder for his hair and nails, and protein.

“I check on my daughter, who’s usually up and cooing in her cot. My fiancée [Perry] needs her sleep, so I try to let her have a lie-in. Daisy’s a very happy baby. I’ll kiss her and we’ll spend some time connecting,” he said.

“I’ll do eye-gazing with her and sing songs, ‘Daddy loves his Daisy Dove,’ so she knows who Daddy is. My son’s first word was ‘Mama,’ but Daisy said ‘Dada,’” he concluded.

Although Bloom hasn’t really been open about his childhood, it now seems the actor invited all his fans into a dark phase in his teen years.

According to reports on PageSix, the Pirates of the Caribbean star referred to the horrific accident he suffered as a teenager in honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10.

“When I was 19 I fell three floors from a window and broke my back,” he said in a video shared by UNICEF on Instagram.

“I was very fortunate to survive the fall because my spinal cord was still just intact. I was told for the first four days that I may never walk again.”

And he went ahead and said that it was a painful journey forward.

“That was really the beginning of what was a long and painful journey for me into recognizing and understanding some of the patterns that had been in my life that had led me to having numerous accidents,” he explained.

Bloom even said he underwent spinal surgery before his complicated recovery journey even started, and throughout that, he had to wear a brace.

“I would say the months after the fall were quite a dark time,” he admitted. “As somebody who’d sort of always been very active in my life, it felt very restrictive all of a sudden and I was in a lot of pain,” he added.

The actor even took to Instagram and shared a video of himself wearing a brace.

The actor further added he was “grateful every day” for the limbs that have allowed him to push his limits and live life on his edge.

Before he concluded his post by stating that it was a near-death experience.

“And the culmination was breaking my back, which was a near-death experience,” he said.
