Last year, actress Shannen Doherty shared tragic news on good morning America, which left everyone heartbroken.
Doherty wants to get ahead of the papers being released about her ongoing lawsuit, which contains sensitive information about her current health problems.
The actress appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning to share her story.
Doherty revealed her cancer had returned.
3 years after going into remission following a previous brutal battle.
The cancer came back aggressively early 2021, which she had kept private.
But wanted to reveal it in October 2022, before it became public against her will.
“It’s going to come out in a matter of days or week that I am Stage 4, my cancer came back and that’s why I am here.”
“It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways,” she said.
Adding: “I’m petrified. I’m pretty scared.”
“My mom is a ridiculously strong courageous human being,” Doherty continued.
“So is my husband, but I worry about him,” she said.
Doherty was concerned the information would have been leaked had she not addressed it.
Doherty’s home was damaged in the Wolseley fire, which she is trying to claim against State Farm to repair some of the damage.
Doherty says it has been one of the hardest things she has ever done.
This legal battle was going on in conjunction with her health battle.
She believes she is entitled to more than the $1.1million the company has already paid her.
But as she prepared to face court, her privacy was compromised.
“I’d rather people hear it from me,” Shannen explained.
I don’t want it to be twisted, a court document.”
“I want it to be real and authentic.”
“I want to control the narrative.”
“I want people to know from me,” she said.
Shannen was also emotional about the fire.
“My house was severely damaged. You walked in and it just reeked of smoke.”
“I tried – I communicated with my insurance company.”
“I called, I got passed around, claims adjuster to claims adjuster.”
“I think the thing I want to do the most right now is make an impact.”
“I can through this lawsuit and by saying enough is enough with big business and corporations running the little person into the ground.”
“It’s not fair and I’m taking a stand for all of us but it’s more about how I want to be remembered for something bigger than just me,” she concluded.
And this week, Shannen has opened up about her illness, sharing an emotional message.
She joined Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris on a panel.
The panel was hosted PEOPLE Senior Editor Breanne L. Heldman to discuss the iconic show, 90210.
But during the panel, the crowd gave Shannen a standing ovation.
She responded: “Thank you so much. You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.”
Adding: “I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways.”
“I definitely have days where I say ‘Why me?’ And then I go ‘Well, why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this? None of us do.”
“But I would say that my first reaction is always concern about how am I going to tell my mom, my husband.”
“I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, ‘I can’t really do this,’ and Brian [Austin Green] was the one person who – of that group of people that knew – that I told, like, pretty quickly and said, ‘Here, this is what I’m dealing with’,” she said.
“So prior to shooting he would always call me and say, ‘Listen, you know, whatever happens, I have your back.’ He would look at me and be like, ‘We got this, kiddo’…so Brian helped me through a lot.”
Our thoughts are with Shannen, her friends and family.
