The Wizards of Waverly Place alum is once again taking a break from social media after her latest upload.
The singer has been open about her mental health over the years, and because of that, she takes frequent breaks from social media to protect her mental wellbeing.
In November, as fans pled for Selena to speak out about the violence in Palestine, the star instead decided to take a break from Instagram completely.
“I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world,” she wrote at the time.
“People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any group is horrific,” she continued.
Weirdly enough, the Only Murders In The Building actress returned just 24 hours later, posting an instagram Story and confusing everyone.
Just one month later, on Dec. 8, Selena announced that she was taking yet another break from social media, but this time, for a very different reason.
The star has been open about her life as a single woman in recent years, posting funny TikToks looking for a partner in various places.
She even went to amateur soccer games, standing on the sidelines and looking around for a potential boyfriend in one clip.
But, this week, the actress announced that she’s officially off the market, and her fans couldn’t be more surprised by who her new partner is.
It all started when an Instagram fan account posted a photo of Gomez and her new man looking cozy, fueling relationship rumors.
Selena ended up confirming the rumors fairly quickly, taking to the comments to affirm her feelings for her boyfriend.
“He is my absolute everything in my heart,” the actress’ comment pinned on the post reads, while another simply says: “LOVE.”
So, who is this mystery man Selena is gushing over?
The Only Murders In The Building actress is dating producer Benny Blanco, and according to Selena, they’ve already been together for six months.
The pop star has recently been working with Blanco on her latest hit, “Single Soon.”
The pair previously collaborated on several songs, including “I Can’t Get Enough” in 2019, which features Blanco dancing in a teddy bear costume in the music video.
An Instagram post on Gomez’s account also shows that he was present at her birthday celebrations in July this year.
Unfortunately for Selena, a lot of fans aren’t pleased with the announcement of her new relationship.
One of the reasons her loyal followers are upset is because Blanco actually has a history of speaking out against his now-girlfriend.
Many fans believe the producer took a dig at her in a 2020 interview promoting “Lonely,” his collaboration with friend and singer Justin Bieber.
Because Bieber is Selena’s ex-boyfriend, their fan bases have a long history of hating one another, and many think Blanco took Justin’s side.
“Justin is not one of those, like, cookie-cutter pop artists, you know they’re, like, ‘This is my new single and here’s my makeup line,’” he said at the time.
Selena’s supporters took this to be a slick comment about Gomez’s cosmetic brand, Rare Beauty, which she founded the previous year.
Regardless of his history, the singer and actress insists she’s happier than she’s ever been in her new relationship.
Before announcing her latest social media break, she took to the comments section of multiple posts about her boyfriend, defending him against any backlash.
“Lol yeah and he’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts,” she wrote, seemingly throwing a dig at Justin Bieber.
To another, she wrote, “then why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The end.”
“I don’t understand. If you actually care about me. This is my happiest,” Selena continued in another comment.
“If you don’t feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever,” she wrote. “I’m done. If you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in (m)y life at all.”
