The news has just come in that an airline passenger died of coronavirus while onboard a commercial flight.
Here's what we know so far...
It is the most appalling situation.
via: GettyThe unnamed airline passenger tragically succumbed to the virus while, which has already claimed the lives of over 200,000 Americans, while onboard her flight back in July.
Now, we all know that face masks have been slowly becoming mandatory on all public transport across the country...
via: GettyAnd airplanes are at the top of that list.
In an effort to help reduce the spread of the deadly virus...
via: GettyThe CDC recommends that people wear masks or cloth face coverings while flying.
Because due to the recycled and filtered air in airplane cabins...
via: GettyIf someone carrying the virus coughs or sneezes while onboard an aircraft, any present strain of the virus will circulate at a much quicker speed than it would in any other mode of transport.
This is why most major airlines have made the decision to enforce strict COVID regulations upon all passengers, such as the requirement of face masks.
via: GettyAnd, if any passenger refuses to wear a protective face covering, the airline withholds the right to escort them from the aircraft.
Yet, despite the efficiency of these face masks...
via: GettyThe fact remains that they can't always protect you from the virus.
And this has sadly been the case in this tragic instance.

Understandably, people have been left outraged by the news.
@AynRandPaulRyan @TasneemN How the hell was she even allowed to fly? Everyone on that plane should sue.— R Caldwell 🇺🇸 (@R Caldwell 🇺🇸)1603187430.0
So many restrictions have been put in place...

Many have pointed out the recklessness of the whole situation...And how many lives have potentially been put at risk, despite the many precautions taken over the last few months.
On the other hand, however, people have been saddened by the news.

The passenger, who was in her thirties, has only been identified as a resident of Garland, Texas.
via: GettyA Dallas County official, Lauren Trimble, told BuzzFeed News that she died while the aircraft was still on the tarmac.
It was reported that the woman had started to experience breathing difficulties...
via: GettyAnd was given oxygen by members of the cabin crew, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins told NBC 5 Dallas–Fort Worth.
However, their efforts were to little avail.
via: GettyShe tragically passed away there and then onboard the aircraft.
Though the incident happened back in July...
via: GettyIt has only now been confirmed to be a coronavirus death, Jenkins told WFAA.
It is believed that the woman wasn't aware that she was even infected with the virus at the time of her death...
via: GettyHence why she was allowed to be on board the aircraft in the first place.
It has also been reported that the woman had existing health conditions...
via: GettyThough the details surrounding these haven't been disclosed.
Jenkins has said that the woman's death should stand as a "reminder"...
via: GettyThat there is "no age restriction in COVID."
via: Getty"I would strongly encourage people to not think they’re invincible from COVID because they don’t think they’re in a high-risk category."
Our thoughts go out to all those affected in this horrendous situation.
