The 43-year-old Backstreet Boys singer took to Instagram on Saturday, making his first post since the heartbreaking news of his sibling’s death at the age of 41 on December 23.

In a touching tribute, Carter shared a brief video featuring his 7-year-old son, Odin Reign, engaged in a game of golf.

As the young golfer swung his club on a lush green field, his proud father’s voice could be heard exclaiming, “Great shot!”

The poignant caption accompanying the short clip read, “Cherishing these moments.”

Between arrests, hospitalizations, and rehab visits, the Carter family is no stranger to controversy.

Unfortunately, they’re no stranger to death, either, having lost multiple members of their family over the course of the last decade.

In 2012, Nick and Aaron Carter’s sister, Leslie–a 25-year-old mother of one–was found unresponsive in their father’s home.

She was taken to a local hospital in nearby, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. It was later revealed that Leslie suffered an overdose.

To make matters all the more heartbreaking, Aaron had paid for his sister’s substance abuse treatment just days before.

Sadly, Aaron would go through his own struggles with addiction, which eventually ended up taking his life 10 years later.

The 34-year-old former child pop star was found dead in his bathtub in November 2022.

Carter accidentally drowned in his bathtub due to the effects of inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.

Now, just one year later, the Carter family is going through yet another heart-wrenching loss.

On Dec. 23, 2023, Bobbie Jean Carter, a sister of Nick and Aaron, died in Florida at the age of 41.

“I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” Bobbie Jean’s mother, Jane Carter, told TMZ.

The Hillsborough Sheriff’s department recently confirmed to PEOPLE that Carter was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her Florida home.

Bobbie Jean was then immediately transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office also says deputies learned that Carter was on probation for cocaine possession at the time of her death.

However, Carter’s roommates told the deputies she had not used any narcotics since her release from prison, where she was held from late September to early November.

The sheriff’s office adds that no narcotics or paraphernalia were found in Carter’s bedroom or bathroom.

There were also no signs of foul play, say the authorities, who stayed with Carter’s daughter, Bella, 8, until her next of kin arrived from Orlando.

While a family source initially said Bella was in the care of her grandmother, another Carter family source told PEOPLE that she is staying with an aunt at this time.

Sources close to the Carters say that the family believes Bobbie Jean died after going into cardiac arrest.

Her official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.

“To my older sister Bobbie. You had a great sense of humor, and a lively spirit,” she began in her post.

“Life wasn’t fair to you, that I know. Sometimes, it feels like you didn’t have a shot, no matter what,” Angel concluded.
