An abandoned dog was recently found tied to a tree with a note attached to its collar saying, "My dad lost his job due to COVID."

This is utterly heartbreaking...

Now, we all know that a dog isn't just for Christmas...

But sadly, too many people don't realize this and they are quick to give up their pooches once they've grown bored, tired, or just incapable of caring for them.

And, even more heartbreakingly so...

Around 670,000 of these pooches end up being euthanized every year, as a tragic result of never finding a fitting home.

An animal shelter is no home for a dog...

The permanently unsettled, and somewhat chaotic and overcrowded environment of a shelter can cause great stress to our poor pooches.

So this is why it is of the utmost importance to adopt rather than shop.

Puppies are cute, I know... But older dogs need love too!

But believe it or not, dogs in shelters are the lucky ones...

Because so many dogs are left to fend for themselves on the streets.

This often happens when they are no longer wanted by their owners...

But in more devastating cases, dogs end up on the streets because their owners simply can't provide for them anymore.

The pandemic has caused millions of people to lose their jobs around the world...

Meaning many are no longer in a financial state to look after and care for a pet.

It's an unbelievably stressful time...

And one unfortunate pooch recently fell victim to these unprecedented times.

In Indiana, a German-Australian Shepherd was found tied to a tree.

She had clearly been abandoned, and when she was taken in by the Hendrick's County Animal Shelter, a note was found attached to her collar.

The dog, whose name is Roadie, wasn't abandoned because her owner no longer wanted her...

It was, in fact, quite the opposite... and people were heartbroken after reading the note.

The note explained that Roadie's dad had lost his job thanks to the COVID pandemic...

It went on to explain how Roadie, a rescue from a litter of ten, loves lamb and rice and chew toys - but will tear apart anything with a squeaker. It said she's "full of energy too," and was very much loved.

The note then read:

"I was a spoiled girl, my dad gave me my own couch to lay on and my own memory foam bed. Please if you find me give me a good home and love and maybe a friend. I love children and play well with other dogs."

Roadie was completely unharmed and was in exceptional health...

But her circumstances are utterly heartbreaking and people have been left mortified after reading her note.

We hope this beautiful girl finds a new, loving home soon and we also hope her previous owner is doing okay!
