Heartbreaking news just in, the iconic Japanese actress, Yuko Takeuchi, has been found dead aged 40.

The actress was best known for her roles in Miss Sherlock and Ringu.

The iconic and legendary actress, Yuko Takeuchi, has been found dead at her home.

The award winning actress was known globally.

However she was most famous in her home nation of Japan where she starred in countless big films and TV shows.

One of her most famous roles was in Miss Sherlock.

Where Takeuchi played a female Sherlock Homes solving crimes and mysteries across Tokyo.

It was a huge hit.

And was broadcast across the world, including in the United States.

She also starred in Ringu.

Ringu tells the story of a TV reporter investigates the myth about a strange videotape, which brings death to all who watch it.

Sound familiar?

It could well do - as the 1998 movie was adapted into the 2002 film, The Ring, which went onto achieve global success.

But Takeuchi starred in so much more.

She also starred in Creepy, The Magnificent Nine, The Ineresable and many more.

She was acting right up until her death.

And just two months prior, she appeared in the film The Confidenceman JP: Princess.

But while her career was still blossoming.

She was tragically found dead by her husband at their home in Shibuya Ward.

The husband presumed she was dead.

But it was only confirmed when her body arrived at the hospital.

Her talent agency, Stardust Promotion, released a statement confirming her death.

In it they said:
It came all of a sudden, and we are all stunned and saddened by the news.

Tributes have been pouring in for the star.

One fan wrote:
Miura Haruma and Takeuchi Yuko and to all the people who aren't with us anymore... I hope you're happy right now in a place where no one could hurt you. I don't know anything, but please, I hope we could always stay strong and meet again in a beautiful world.

Another wrote:

I’ve watched her first in Pride with Kimura. Then of course she was Nino’s crush. And she acted with MJ in Natsuniji. She was one of my fave Japanese actresses. This death hits me like no other. RIP Takeuchi Yuko.

A third commented:

MatsuJun's NatsuNiji leading lady and Nino's ultimate crush, Takeuchi Yuko was found dead at her home in Tokyo. Rest in peace, Yuko. Ugh! Why this things keep on happening.

Yuko was, to many, the Queen of J-Drama.

And the mass amount of tributes just go to prove how much she will be missed in the world of entertainment.

Nobody can quite believe it.

Another person paying tribute to the late star, wrote:
I still can't bring myself to believe Takeuchi Yuko is gone, it's just unthinkable. I'm beginning to think something is happening within the Japanese celeb community. We've lost too many talents this year with the demise of Miura Haruma, Ashina Sei and now her too?

An investigation has been launched into Yuko's death.

And although the cause of her death has not been confirmed, she is thought to have died by suicide, despite not leaving a note.

She is survived by her husband.

She also has two young children, one who is just nine-months-old.

She was just 40 years old.
