Maroon 5’s frontman, Adam Levine, has recently responded to critics after a fan interaction went viral…
It all started during a concert over the weekend.
Taking place at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, Levine and his band were in the middle of performing their hit, “Sunday Morning” when a fan jumped onto the stage.
She then proceeded to hug the frontman, leaving him feeling visibly uncomfortable.
You can see in the video that after she is removed by security, Levine shouts “f***” very boldly and then shivers, like he’s trying to remove the feeling of her off of his body. Yikes.
The interaction was captured by another fan in the crowd and uploaded to TikTok by user @luispenaloza9525, who wrote: “Adam Levine was a whole mood yesterday,” alongside the clip.
And the video has since been viewed 10 million times and gotten over 800,000 likes and thousands of comments.
Some have defended the singer, slamming the fan for “invading his personal space.”
But some have accused the singer of thinking that his fans are “beneath him.”
And let’s just say, Levine was not happy about the latter.
Just a few days after the incident, he jumped onto his Instagram Stories to set the record straight.
He said this:
“So I just wanted to address the Hollywood Bowl incident thing, a fan coming up to me onstage. I have always been someone that loves, respects, worships our fans. Without our fans, we don’t have a job. I say that all the time, to our fans.”
“To think that anyone would believe that I thought that I thought that they were– our fans were beneath us, or less than us, makes my stomach turn,” he continued. “That’s just not who I am. That’s not who I’ve ever been.
“So I just need you guys to know I was really startled, and sometimes when you’re startled, you have to shake it off and move on, because I’m doing my job up there,” he added. “And, you know, it’s what I pride myself on, so I need to let you guys know what my heart is, and my heart is that connection that exists between the band performing on stage and the fans.”
He ended the video asking for “understanding” and then blowing a kiss to the camera.
Personally, I don’t think Adam Levine owes anyone an explanation for his reaction. If someone wants to invade someone else’s personal space without warning, then prepare for something like this to happen. To be honest, most other people would have reacted worse. I mean, how would you feel if a random person on the street just ran up to you and hugged you? Pretty violated, right? Well, celebrities are no different.
Be respectful to people, guys.
