But one woman has found that she is actually cashing in on her pet rat's artistic talents.

This is Steph Toogood...

And she is a twenty-one-year-old veterinary student from the U.K. who is the proud owner of twelve rats.

Yep, you heard that right.

Well, she manages twelve rats as part of her responsibilities as a veterinary student but she considers each and every one are part of the family.

When she sadly lost one of her favorite rats back in 2018...

The vets who put him to sleep gave her a print of his paw prints - which switched on a lightbulb in Steph's head.

She decided to make colorful prints of her other rats' paws...

And when she posted them online, she attracted a lot of attention - which spurred her along to create more art with her rats.

Steph has created miniature easels for her rats...

And animal-friendly paints for them to stick their paws in.

The paintings turned out a lot better than Steph first expected...

And there's no denying how beautiful they are!

The rat's artwork became that popular...

People began asking Steph if they could buy their own masterpieces... so she decided to set up a page on Etsy especially for her rat's work.

Steph sells a variety of products featuring her pets’ art...

Including keyrings...

And scrunchies...

Imagine how cute these would look in your hair!

And even coffee mugs!

Including many more adorable products.

And amazingly...

Steph is completely sold out online due to high demand!

But not to worry...

"I am making an order this week and hopefully arranging pre-orders soon," Steph wrote on her Facebook page.

Steph wants people to be aware of how she thinks of her little business.

"They’re my best friends, and they will not spend their lives covered in paint, no matter how high the demand is for their art right now," she recently posted on the Facebook page. "Some of the boys are target trained and will follow a target stick or by hand to make painting easier – we even have a miniature agility course which some of them are good at!"

Steph would never use her animals for profit...

And their best interests are always at heart.

They now even have their own wall calendar...

Which is just the cutest thing!

It must have taken some serious skills to get the rats to stay still...

This snap is a perfect example of how difficult this can be!

If you're interested in purchasing your very own rat portrait, make sure to keep an eye on Steph's social media pages...
