To prevent us from plummeting back into the worst of it.

In fact, some precautions are becoming mandatory in some places.

Including here in the U.S.

In the majority of states and in many countries, it has become mandatory to wear a face mask or covering.

For example, in some retail stores, customers are required to wear one... And not to mention while traveling on public transport.

Although some people have been choosing to wear a face-covering regardless...

To provide them with peace of mind.

But the issue that many people have discovered is how uncomfortable face masks can be...

Especially when they are worn for a long period of time.

This has resulted in some people simply refusing to wear them, or all together, mocking the importance of wearing a mask.

Countless anti-lockdown protests have taken place around the world, with people wanting to "live freely than be oppressed by masks."

Despite this, health experts have stressed their importance over and over again.

Healthline describes them as "crucial in the fight against the pandemic." They stressed that this rule is to protect others and not yourself. Wearing a mask reduces the transmission of the disease by at least half.

You'd think the pros would outweigh the cons, right?

Well, despite the experts' advice to stay covered in public areas, there are still people refusing to listen.

But now, one Senator who refused to follow mask rules set in place by Alaska Airlines has learned her lesson...

As she's been banned...

Senator Lara Reinbold was recorded in Juneau International Airport last week, arguing with Alaska Airlines staff about mask policies.

The incident, which was filmed and posted online, appears to show airline staff telling Reinbold her mask must cover her nose and mouth.

And now, she's been banned, with the suspension effective immediately.

Tim Thompson, a spokesman for Alaska Airlines spoke with the Anchorage Daily News and said:

"We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy."

Though as per NBC News, Reinbold said she had not been notified of a ban and that she hoped to be on an Alaska Airlines flight in the near future.

Last year, Reinbold allegedly referred to Alaska Airlines staff as "mask bullies" after being asked by flight attendants to wear a mask while on board.

Thompson said the length of Reinbold's ban will be determined by a review.
