Alec Baldwin has shared the devastating news that his mom has passed away…
This comes at an extremely difficult time for the actor after the fatal shooting on the set of the movie Rust.
Alec Baldwin announced the death of his beloved mom, Carol M. Baldwin, in an Instagram post on May 26.
The late Carol Baldwin, who is also the grandmother of Hailey Bieber and Ireland Baldwin, died at the age of ninety-two.
“It is with the deepest regret that my family posts the following statement,” Alec’s began his post. “Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, and William, and Stephen Baldwin, and two daughters, Elizabeth [Keuchler] and
Jane [Sasso] died today in Syracuse, New York.”
In the touching post dedicated to his mom, Alec shared important moments in her life and some of her incredible accomplishments over the years, including her work with breast cancer support groups after becoming a survivor herself.
“She joined with a group of Long Island-wide breast cancer support groups to launch an effort with SUNY Stony Brook,” he wrote. “With the support of the university’s then-president, Shirley Strum Kenny, the Carol M Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund was opened on the campus at Stony Brook.”
Alec also shared that his mom taught him a lot as a young boy, including “about second acts. And third ones, too.”
“She spent the last 25 years of her life as a fighter and a champion for the cause to which she devoted so much energy. We are all enormously proud of her accomplishments.”
He mentioned the large Baldwin family, and how “Carol has 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren,” in addition to her 6 children.
One of those grandchildren is Hailey Bieber, who reposted Alec’s tribute to her Instagram Story, along with the caption, “We love you, grandma.”
