Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Riley Roberts, and we couldn’t be happier for the pair.
United States representative for New York’s fourteenth congressional district is getting hitched to Riley Roberts after getting engaged in Puerto Rico, The Daily Beast reports.
Taking to Twitter Cortez told her followers: “We got engaged last month in my family’s hometown in Puerto Rico.”
“No future details yet, we’re taking some space to savor this time before diving into planning,” she continued.
Eliza Relman, a political editor, took to Twitter to break the good news among her followers: “In some lighter news – @AOC confirmed to me that she’s engaged,”
And Cortez, who commonly goes by the initials AOC, retweeted the article saying “It’s true! Thank you for all the well wishes.”
Where did the couple meet? You may be wondering…
They met at Boston University when they were just undergraduates, and although they broke up for a short while after graduating, they made their way back to one another.
Filmmaker, Racheal Lears, gave an incredible tribute to the pair:
“Everything from the emotional to the strategic to the practical, he has been a really important partner to her,” she said of Cortez’s soon-to-be husband.
